I've had my 2002 Suburban in the shop twice now for a Metallic click(ing) noise coming from front end when turning in an out of parking spaces. It sounds like a CV joint? - old repressed memories from owning a Pontiac -
Anyhow, the dealer stated it was the Intermediate shaft needing lubrication. I just got it back from the shop last night and within two hours of picking it up - low and behold the same noise appears. I don't even know what an intermidiate shaft is but I find it hard to believe it went bad it just two hours. Also, a little history - I had to replace all four tires last month due to uneven wear - Dealer paid for two since they have performed all the maintance since I purchased it last year to include tire rotation as recommended. Could this have been what caused the tires to wear funny.?

If its a 2wd model then the cross member under the engine is causing the noise, remove it and slot the drivers side holes 2 mm inward and reinstall, fixed many with this. GM just came out with a bulletin for this repair.
