Doin' the manifold shuffle!

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I haven't removed any engines yet but I'm going to be turbocharging my 1991 GT. I was wondering if the 3s-gte exhaust manifold would bolt on to the 5s-fe or if I'll need to do some cutting and welding to get the ct-26 turbo flange onto the 5s-fe's manifold?

I've got the spare CT-26 and the intercooler from an 87 supra turbo, that I'll be putting on to my baby.

On a related issue, anyone know how restrictive the GT's exhaust system is?

I've already determined where I'll be tapping into the oil/water lines, I'll probably need another oil pump and while the engine is out I'll be hooking up an actual oil pressure gauge. Thicker headgasket, rebuilding the head, and it happens to perfectly line up with time to replace the poorly-placed timing belt!

Anyway, any input would be great. Once the process starts I'll be taking tons of pics and I'll set up a site if anyone wants to give it a try the way I do it.

Look on the MR2 message board.
Many have turbocharged their 5S-FE.
Do a search, you'll find it. :)

if you're going to use the CT26, use the 3S-GTE manifold.

I'll have a look, but I do often like doing stuff myself =)

Mostly I was just wondering if anyone knew if the 3s-gte manifold bolts straight on to the 5s-fe head. (I'm sure I'd find out eventually when i tried to put it on, but I was hoping someone might just know ;) )

Thanks!

I suppose I might as well familiarize myself with the MR2 forum anyway. It's my next prospective purchase.

That'll put me at:

'91 Celica GT
'94 MR-2 Turbo
'89 Supra Turbo
'79 TR7 (The odd-ball)

I'll probably drive the celica daily (Still gonna turbocharge it), restore the TR7, and massively modify the mr2 and supra

That's cool. The MR2 board is anther view of things... Celica and MR2 share engines.. etc... plus good read...

Nice stable
