can a 4g63 engine (from evoIII) fit into a Gto chasis, without modifying engine mounting? i mean nicely fit in.
what engines can fit into a gto chasis without modifying engine mounting?
Mitsubishi GTO 3000 original uses 6G72 Twin Turbo, and
Mitsubishi Evolution 3 originally uses 4G63T.

i don't know, and i don't think you wanna do that anyway, the reason the evo-8 is so fast is hp to weight and electronics etc, you would need more than 270 hp to pull the heavy 3800lb beast. thats why they are 320hp.

You can fit it in there, but you will have to moddify some stuff. You best bet if you were going with this project would be to buy an old 90-94 turbo AWD DSM and pull the engine and drivetrain out of it. Rebuild the engine and trans, and custom make some motor mounts. After you get it and the drivetrain somehow hooked up, you will have to get a custom drive shaft made.
After you go through all that work you will most likeyl have to replace the transmision pretty regualarly because the DSM transmision is no designed to pull a 3800lb car. Hell, they blow up just pulling the DSM when ya get the HP up there.

a 3.0 liter vehicle roadtax is hell expensive in my country, also fuel consumption is high, i probably won't drive it everyday.
is there an option to fit in smaller capacity engine into a gto chasis without modifying engine mounting? (like what happen to evo engine into lancer, or evo engine into fto, yes, they are nicely fit in)
***oh yeah, above 220 hp should be enough for me
*** i am planning to get an aging gto and swap the heart.

The only engine I think that *might* fit..but I have my doubts is the 6G73 2.5L V6.
But if a 3.0l is so expensive to register...why get one?
I'd be getting a smaller car that's more potent. The GTO's albeit they're nice and all..but they're heavy and tend to use a lot of fuel.
I think you'd be wasting a lot of money to be honest...but hey it's your money and it's not up to me. Feel free to disregard my opinion.

First off, an evo engine will not, I repeat, will not drop into a lancer. It will require lots of fabrication. An evo and a lancer are different vehicles that are created on the same platform and share the same skin. Under the skin they are drasticly different. A lancer does 0-60 in 10 seconds, and an evo does 0-60 in 5, more than an engine swap.
I cant think of an engine that you could swap into a gto that would give you better gas milage, I think its time to look at other cars.

Ooooo, bad idea. The 4g63 will not produce the kind of torque needed to push around the heavy ass GTO remember HP and Torque are two different things. Even with the turbo it would suck. It would be slow and lethargic and an all around disapointment. You are better off going with a smaller displacement car all together. I do not know what you budget is, but why not get the EVO or an older Eclipse GSX or Talon TSI. Good strong inline fours with the all wheel drive and all.

Eclipse and talon are USDM only, they dont exsist in other coutrys. He could look into the fto though.

Dude, do not put that engine in your GTO you will ruin it. The stock 3.0L is much better.

You can get 600hp plus out of that stock motor...so spend the money on modding it :D

600, I am shooting for at least a grand. Shouldn't be that hard either. Although I am looking at spending like 25-30 Gs on my engine alone in the next few years. Not to mention the Tranny and drivetrain. Wish me luck :iceslolan !!!!!!

thanks to all. appears that i can get a gto till when i can afford a 3.0L vehicle. i will stick to my bb1 for the moment.
yes, people here convert lancer into evo4, 5, 6, transplanting everything they got in evo used front cut and used rear cut from japan. everything nicely fit in. however, chasis rigidity remains lancer's. total price is about half a new original evo. here in malaysia.
