- I even tried to look at the RGB for the different squares in Paint Shop Pro.. I still can't get it. My dad has a Ph.D. degree and he doesn't get it either.. Somebody enlighten me please. :banghead:

An object/colour etc. surrounded by a dark colour appears brighter then the same object surrounded by bright colours.

that's kinda like when you walk between two mirrors that are parallel to each other...they just seem to go on forever...almost like different dimensions...:eek7:

Yeah, that's basically what it is, I just can't figure out how he was able to take that picture a) without the camera showing in the mirror, and b) with the mirror frame spiralling like that. It's a mind-blower for sure.

ci5ic: The thing you show there is called "mise en abyme".

MISE-EN-ABIME: Literally, "placement en abīme," where "en abīme" itself refers to the habit of representing a small shield inside a larger one in traditional heralds and coats-of-arms. By extension, most any "story-within-a-story" situations can be called an example of mise-en-abīme. The device is especially common in modern literature, television and films, but it occasionally appears in art. Some of Velįzquez's bodegones show religious scene tucked into the background of a genre scene with very different kinds of activity (e.g., Old Woman Cooking Eggs).

That's not what it is... maybe if it was just the "mirror hallway effect" I would agree, but look at the mirror frame... The way it never ends is messed up. It's a completely different effect.
