Door Trim adhesive?

I'm wondering how the door trim for the late 90s subarus is held onto the car. I'm guessing it would be the same for all the subarus, hence my reasoning for posting it here. If it's just held on with double sided tape, then I'm probably going to take it off. If it's bolted on, I'll just have it painted to avoid the body work. Either way, that area has to turn silver...it looks ugly with a big black stripe down the side if you ask me.
