Help me pick out an engine

Hey, I am building a engine from bottom up
I have considered LS/Vtec or an LS/turbo
Please give me advice on which one is a better engine that would be best for a daily bad ass driver

I HAVE NO FIRST HAND EXPERANCE, but i have friends who have both, the turbo was ok for a daily when he drove it like a daily all the time, but when he started really get(met more poeple who race their cars) on it he started to loose compression and the motor finally blew, and my frieid said that an LS vtec is a good engine if you do everything right, replace the pistons and get new rods, or shot pien them, and get everything balance and tuned, but i would say LSvtec

vtec sounds good and dosent get as anoying as a blowoff valve....though if you are building the engine the LS turbo would be faster adn could last.

ls turbo would be badass. if you replace the pistons and everything it will be all good. The turbo has more potential obviously. but you will pay for it.

Im planning on doing a ls/turbo as soon as i have the cash
