I have never seen bigger than 18s on MKII MR2, not saying it can't be done.

a little big. 18's are the biggest I like on an MKII MR2.
But it's what "you" like. :)

Plus the when you might as well replace your strut with a piece of steel. There's not a lot of room for the suspension travel.
And tires are waaay more money for 19s.... don't forget about that. :)

yeah well i would cut the upper part of the fender off and make it taller so i could lower the car more so they will fit... i was thinking of getting 19's because they are usually wider... the alternative would to get a 2 or 3 peice wheel which i have seen arround $8,000 i dont know if that was a special one or wut but im not willing to spend that much on rims...
(notice just above the wheel how far it comes up)

see the difference?

lol.. ok.. whatever you like.
you asked what we liked, we tell you. :)
... You wanted 19's cause they are wider? lol.. you're kidding right?
18's are wide enough.. you can find just about any size you like. And you don't need a 2 or 3 piece at all. It has nothing to do with what you are talking about. You can get a 3 piece wheel if you want, it's just a manu. process. And far cheaper than $8000. What wheels did you see for $8000????
How wide of a tire do you want on your MR2? Do you realize the lack of performance and even handling a too wide of a tire will cause?

n i dont kno about the 3 peice wheels... maybe they were some kind of super light racing wheel or something...

275 are super wide. you're not going to have the power to even use 225 width!!
Choose an apporpriate size..
even super light racing wheels are NOT $8000!
Volk TE37, what $450 a piece?
Racing Harts, up to $500 each????
Whatever you like to do to your car is your choice.. but I think you need to understand what happens when you throw on super wide tires.

wut are you talking about... 275 isnt super wide... plus you dont know how i will even use the car... 275 isnt that big if i were to drag the car... corvettes come with 275's in the rear stock... if i were to drag the car with up to 400rwhp i would need that kind of tracktion from the wheels..
as for the 3 piece wheels... just drop it... i have seen them a while ago and maybe they were super light wieght and came with super soft tires and some other stuff... also with the 3 peice wheels you got to choose exactly what you wanted the middle to look like, so if you polished it it was lik $1,000 and they were 19" and then you had to tell them how wide you wanted it and then they screwed it in for you and put on the tires but even that might not come out to $8,000 all im saying is that 3 piece wheels ARE more expensive than getting fixed wheels

dude, look at the picture you posted above!!
What size are those? 19"x9.5", what tire width, 245!!!! What width you want to run those 275's at?
lol.. what profile 275? I just don't want you thinking bigger is better, cause you may waste a lot of money, learning the hard way.
Corvette, MR2??? What size tires come stock on a MR2? What the hell does a corvette have to do with a MR2?
You want me to stop discussing 3 piece wheels, eh? What if I want to continue the discussion, would that be okay? they screwed the wheels together, huh... wheels, tires... what "other" stuff? diamond valve stems?
And that's the first and only time you've stated 3 piece wheels are more expensive. That's a little obvious though.. But hey, atleast you're learning..
Have fun. This is a forum.. People can post what they like. If I wanted to, I guess I could start my own thread about $8000 3pc wheels. Say what you want, you come asking questions and looking for help.. Then when people tell you what's up, you keep coming back arguing without reasonable evidence.. I don't really care what size tires you want to put on your MR2. You asked for my opinion. You got it. You're going to do what you want anyway.

ok u do kno that the width is measured in milimeters right? ok i just looked to see... how much 40mm more is because stock tires on 1994+ i THINK maybe from 1993+ are 235 in the rear.. it turns out that 275's are about a half a milimeter short of 1 5/8 of an inch wider than stock... just to give you an idea... the TRD wide body kit comes out 2 inches on both sides from the origonal length, so the tire would still be short from the edge of a stock TRD bodykit which the red car has...
Look i dont want to fight with you cause ill tell you the truth.. fighting is not fun... so maybe 3 peice wheels dont cost $8,000... who cares i learned something new again... i hope we can post more later without argueing

:) Yes, I do know tire size in commonly listed in mm.
19"x9.5", for example is the wheels size. It is listed in inches in the U.S. I was saying that a 245(mm) is mated to the 9.5" rim. A 275 would be wider and it would aslo be nice to have a lower aspect ratio than 35. (what the car in your picture has, 245/35-19) Look on http://www.tirerack.com or http://www.discounttiredirect.com and see what size tires they sell in 18" or 19".
You can get the wheel to "stick out" more by using a wheel with a smaller negative offset. For example, the same wheel with a 20 neg. offset is going to "stick out" more than the same(exact) wheel with a 40 neg. offset. (wheels being the exact same bolt face, etc..)
Or you can use a spacer. A spacer fits between the wheel and the hub, "pushing" the wheel out.

So I'm assuming 19" rims can fit all around on the MR2? Do you guys think 19X8" rims will fit w/ appropriate offset? I am thinking 225/40 in front and 245/40 in back? Please let me know, THanks.

Yes they can.
AE102GTS, if you can, research on the MR2 board (link above).
They have a gazillion threads about which wheel/tire combo fits well.
Best of Luck :)

Do you think 19X8" all around w/ offset of 35mm with 225/40/19 in the front and 245/40/19 in the rear would fit? I would prefer not to roll rear fenderwell..but will if I have too...

It looks really nice. Had a question about brakes, so what are the differences between front brakes on the GT4 vs the normal GT or GTS Celica? Also the rears to my knowledge are the same, but does the GT4 have more pistons in it or something? Just curious. I'm also working on a Corolla w 3SGTE...

size on the rear is actually identical, you just have bigger front brakes. I was wondering if maybe the rears had an extra piston or something. My Corolla is actually AE102, the 93-97 model. Just have some wiring issues left. Also you know anyone w/ extra rear calipers for the GT4?

I'm not sure about the rear having an extra piston.. dunno. :(
