Boost controller help

I am thinking about putting a manual boost controller on my DSM....before that i know i have to get an accurate turbo gauge as well. Does anyone know if installing a boost controller on my 99Eclipse Gst is a good idea? If so, what would be the best PSI setting? I heard DSMs cant handle that much boost. I have an intake already installed and a cat back, so let me know. Thanks!

i dont know about boost settings, but i do know that a manual boost controller is a gtood idea for any turbo car, and if im wrong plz correct me

no your right, a MBC is a good thing to have, and DSM's can handle quite a bit of boost!!! so i dont know where you heard that - they are full of shit!!!

People tpyically run 30 psi on 90-92 stock motors, and ~27-28 psi on stock 93-99 motors. So I'm not sure where you heard this. This is of course assuming the car is setup to run these boost pressures, dont try it on your stock fuel system, intercooler, turbo, etc;)

On the 2g DSMs, stock boost is about 14 psi. In all of my experimenting (which was extensive and painstaking) I found that 16 psi is the most effective boost pressure on 93 octane fuel with the stock T25 turbo and moderate upgrades icluding exhaust (turbo back), filter, 1g blow off valve, and hard upper intercooler pipes. This is where most 2g owners start out. Then add clutch, fuel control and datalogging capabilites (tuning), and bigger turbo and intercooler. Etc.

Cool thanks a lot for the info, guys. Do you know the settings for a stock engine though? Not an engine that has been highly modified.

15-16psi
15 to be safe, make sure you have a real boost gauge first(one with numbers :wink: )
