Need Help on DOME OVERRIDE

Last week I had my 2003 Blazer valet parked at a garage in Philly. When I got the car back, the interior lights will not go out now unless I push the DOME OVERRIDE button back in. I know it should be out to allow for the automatic shutoff of the lights but I have to keep it in so the lights will go out. Any takers on this one??? Thanks

The BCM normally controls the interior lights, receiving inputs from the switches and door switches. If the BCM sees a ground on this line, the lights will stay on unless overridden. Check all of the switches, by removing them from the door pillar. Disconnect one of them, after removing them and look for a ground on the wire. If it is grounded, look for a short. If not, try resetting the unit by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, then try again. It is also possible that the valet did something while in the vehicle to damage the BCM. Ray

mine did that (98 Blazer)...

Drove my alarm batty. The pin switch (not sure of the actual name) on one of my doors wasn't connecting properly. I twisted it - and it worked.

I have an aftermarket alarm - so I'm not sure if my situation is the same as yours.

Not to sound dumb but did you try setting the dimmer switch? Maybe he turned it all the way up for some reason? In my '02 Silverado you can do that. I also have those push button lights on the overhead console that my kids like to press. Those stay on unless you press them again. I know in my '95 S-10 I had a switch that got bent on the driver's side. It was replaced under warranty. It was located on the bottom edge of the dash. I think the newer S-10 are different though.

My message from the ground on the door switch wiring is the same as the one from doctah. Grounds on this line, for any reason will cause the BCM to leave the lights on. Ray

I had the same problem but my light would just pop on sometimes and would not go off.It turned out to be the switch on the light on the interior rear in the back was bad.I put a piece of tape over it with the switch in the off position as a temp fix and the problem was solved.

i've had the same problem a few times.
what i did was open the doors one by one, and wiggle the switch, till the light went out. it has happened a couple of times, i suppose someday i should change the switches.
