Air Conditioner To install or not to install?

Recently acquired a 1964 Falcon. Some of the components with it included a Ford Factory under dash air conditioner.
Before I install it how much are replacement parts for these?
As a base what would another one cost? I'm paranoid about putting something like this into an automobile and then having it go south on me. I like backup!
Where would one look for a backup A/c? and what would expect to have to pay?

Hi! I have a 1964 Ford Falcon. I am 15 yrs ol and I am thinkin of using this as my car. It needs some work but not too much. It does not have A/C, and I get really hot fast. I want to put an A/C in it, but I don't want to spend too much money and I don't really know where to get one. Could some one please help me? My moms boyfriend was telling me something about an A/C that you can buy and hook up in your car and it doesn't blow through the vent, it blows through itself, and is not installed like into the dash of the car. If anyone knows what he is talking about please help me.
