Warped Brake Rotors

Like many owners of these vehicles, I have issues with warping the brake rotors. Since it is time to replace them again, I was wondering if anybody has found a good pad & rotor combination that does not warp, as well as installation tips that help prevent warping.

By the way, the vehicle is a 97 Yukon, 2wd, 5.7l, ABS.

Thanks!

the best thing you can do is have the rotors resurfaced on the vehicle, this will correct any lateral runout of the assembly. i did this to mine and haven't warped a rotor in over 20k miles and i am hard on brakes. 96 ck

I finally solved my continued warping AND improved braking on my 1996 K2500 Suburban. At 120k and after 4 or 5 sets of various rotors and front pads - both GM and aftermarket - I did the following: Installed Power Slot Rotors with Falk pads on the front and Praise Dyno shoes and spring kit on the rear. The only reason I didn't use Praise on the front is to save a little $. Very pleased with results 15k miles later - no pulsating, smooth, fade-free braking. By the way, at 120k miles when this last brake job was done, my rear shoes were still original and appeared hardly used. I think this is the inherent problem in these vehicles - i.e. 99% of brake effort is borne by the front discs. The theory behind the Praise shoe pads is they have twice the coeff. of friction of the factory pads and hence, are able to assist with braking better than the OEM pads. Good luck.

Sounds like you have the solution to the lousy braking on my 99 Denali. Please email me where to get these brake parts and approximate cost.
