my 2000 f-150 4x4#7700 5.4 xlt with a hidden warn winch(which i happen to actually use a bit) has rattled apart . Fords moto should be built "Built city tough" or "Built soccer mom tough" or "built bad guy image tough"
it all started at 8,000 miles. A paint chip on my door But its ok its a factory defect and fixed under warranty. yes fixed twice under warranty and a 3rd and final by my wallet.
leaky tranny anyone? i did for quite a bit i had to hold a ford trained ASE mechanics hand and tell him how to fix it after a few futile attempts by them around 15,000miles.yes warranty
remote keyless entry or power locks? i used to untill around 40,000 miles.
suspension anyone? mines a 3/4 ton 1/2 ton posi 3.73 #7700 package remember. I ditched the factory shocks after they wore around 25,000. got ranchos (ranchos sucks. good for city or weekend warrior) ranchos wore out soon enough after the back end shackles/arm thats rivited to the frame snapped off on one side and shot up to the body almost KILLING ME AND MY RIDER!!! Ford said "oh ya weve seen that" bullshit i talked to many ford dealers and they have never (well 2 had)
I had to put an air ride susspension in "over load air bags" on a truck i do not over load!!! or 4 wheel for fun with. of course 4 low with 4 chains and mud terrains pushing through 2-3feet of snow till ya cant go backing up and busting through the snow bank to get home (my only home) can be fun sometimes if not a hassle others.
snow snow snow 2 inches last week and the heater starts to smell like engine coolant!! man.. heater core is busted but the part is cheap the labor is 600.00 dollars " we need to take out your dash board"
coil anyone replacing a coil is easy. on a 42 power wagon. they tried to charge me 2 hours of labor!!! i got them down to one after they took my foot out there ass or should i say ASE
remote keyless entry or door locks anyone??? anyone?? 200-300 dollars (american) mine stopped working for the passenger miles ago "acculator or worn out motor most likely"
I almost forgot the real motor . The premium sound system. replaced 2x under warranty and a 3rd by my wallet after a tech at ford pulled me aside and said there shit spend 100.00 dollars and youll get a better than stock. i spent 300.00 do the math fords system is 650.00 i got both 1000.00 on sound .
Tires ask for the model with NO tires .the 245 75 r16 that come stock got rocked and patched at least 4 times before 10,000 miles
clicking in the dash board anyone ? anyone?? beauler beauler beauler....no i do what is it ??? "we dont know wed have to take the dash apart at least 350.00 without parts"
laeky pinion seal anyone.... its ok leaky seals are not to... bad as long as there not flowing as well as leaky cv boots as long as the screachie metal sound doesnt last too long. NO it was not the brakes!!!! ASE still isnt..
I must praise ford for there concern with soccer moms hands getting to cold and installing a plastic tailgate handle!! fools that broke off miles ago. not to worry a new piece of plastic is only 26.50 thought id save 70.00 on labor since i can do that one myself. could have been another 100.00 even.
im tired, depressed and sick of thinkng of my love hate truck
would i buy another ford?? yes i would like a 350 but come on 30,000-45,000 for a truck thats going to fall apart every 5-7,700 miles no way. chevy, dodge, ford all built city tough. Fords just the better of the 3 for "workability" toyotas are great but in another class. our family cars= 3 1940s power wagons, 1991 toyota pickup (3 motors 2 trannys bought new) 1987 landcruiser (awesome manual) 1997 t-100 (crap) 2000 f-150 #7700 5.4 (work in comfort fix MONTHLY) 1990 subaru

If you want tough, get a 1980 ford f250, they have got to be the most reliable trucks i have ever driven. I am more a dodge man myself, but pre-1994 (dodge changed its stylin and increased sales 200 and some %) i was a mix between chev and ford. The fords are the most reliable

Sounds like you got a lemon or something monk, I have a 99 F-150 and i use and abuse it more than most people i'm sure. I use it hunting coyotes and deer and everything inbetween. It has covered some of the roughest country around, and i have had no problems with drive train or anything like that. The only thing that i have had trouble with is tearing off that black plastic piece under the front bumper, and occasionaly having to straighten out the front skid plates after hitting a ditch at around 50 mph in a field. It has almost 90,000 miles on it and i would say that it qualifies for Ford Tough. My 96 chevy silverado on the other hand is a different story, it has had thousands of dollars of repairs in way less miles from the exact same driving conditions.

I have a 2000 f150 7700 as well and my door panel also cracked but ford told me I was shit out of luck and that they would not fix it. I guess it happens to all f150s 97 and up. just recently my pinion bearins went that will cost me about $1000.00 to fix.

Its probably a lemon. Being that you seem not to believe that fords are crap we had one where my dad's horse is for 300k+ miles. It pulled a loaded 5th wheel stock trailer every week and was abused more then you could imagine. They replaced that 96 with an 03 truck and it will get even more abused. Sounds like you need a real 3/4 or 1 ton truck. The F-150s are good tough and a little yuppieish. Sorry to hear about your issues.

i will trade my chevy off for a ford anyday. I have had nothing but problems with my chevy. Each manufacturer will have lemons. Now built ford tough still stands in my book. I have 140K of problem free miles on my 00. A 78 with 453K, had a rebuilt 390 put in at 300K and new tranny seals. These trucks are used for farm work, hualing hay wagons, pulling 8K plus trailors, they take it all day long. We figured we would try a chevy because everyone else had one, it can not take the beating, beleive me, built ford tough still stands.

It sounds like you got a total lemon. Sorry to hear that, man...
I've put a little over 40K miles of DIRT ROAD driving on my 01 F150, without as much as a squeak.

My 2000 F-150 has been great, it's at 86,500km right now, no problems still with the engine and I live way the fuck up north. Snow, ice, other random shit on the roads for 8 months of the year.

What you need is a old jeep or a another power wagon those are the best for what your doing. I've got an old j-20 and that thing will go just about anywhere and not get stuck. but if it dose thats why it's got a 15,000 whinch on the front.
