Synthetic oil in Malibu

I have a 2003 Malibu with 29,000 miles on it and ready for an oil change. I'm tempted to put in Mobil 1 synthetic oil but would like to get everyone's opinion on this before I do. Is synthetic better or is it a waste of money?

It is definitely better. It's chemistry makes it more resistant to the problems encountered from the use of petroleum oils, such as thermal and shear breakdown, and it maintains its viscosity better. Ray
