just a question

I changed my heater hose an stuff right when I got my car and it smells like it's really freakin hot every time I stop and get out now. I know one of the o2 sensors aren't hooked up because that's what the shop I got it from said and the check engine light is on because of it (is what they said) I dunno if they're right an shit because I didn't do the swap and know NOTHING about toyota or the mr2. So.. when I get out is it normal for it to kinda pop and crack a lil or is that not normal cause it smells hot as hell but still runs perfect is that normal for a turbo car???? I need to get in contact with someone that works on toyota and does swaps daily and is good. anyone know anyone like that because I'll drive my damn car there to get it inspected and make sure everythings right on it. I'm really worried is all. Thanks :)
