Bravada Auto Leveling Suspension question

I have a 2002 Bravada. The compressor that works with the Auto Leveling Suspension system comes on just about everytime I start the car if it has sat for a couple of hours. It come on for 7 to 10 seconds each time. Overnight the body will drop about an inch. The dealer says this is normal and that the compressor should come on everytime you start up to re-level the vehicle.

Just doesn't seem right to me as you would think a closed sytem would not lose air and that the auto leveling feature would only come on when a load is placed in the back or a trailer is hooked up.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Your thoughts?

TIA

My stepmom's '03 Navigator does this. Her truck has an auto level suspension. In the manual, it states that the truck lowers when the vehicle is turned off to allow an easier exit and entry. When the truck starts, the vehicle will raise. This is normal.

Same here. I recently purchased a 2002 Bravada and it does the same thing. As far as closed loops goes you forget one important thing...physics. Air expands and contracts due to outside air temps. During the day the air is warmer and expands, the pressure regulator adjusts for the ambient temp/pressure. Overnight as the air temp drops so does the pressure. Also barometric pressure has an effect the same way, which is why you check your tire pressure after the vehicle sets overnight instead of after you have driven awile. So the 'closed loop' is responding to outside forces. Not to worry. :-)

Hi Paul !
Except for Scott, you're the only other ex VMag Bravada guy to wander in here that I recognize so far. I'm gonna kinda watch'n see before I start emailing the old gang. Do you know what happened? I don't have a clue.

I also have an 02 Olds Bravada that I have experienced prblems with lately. It seems that when I drive it in wet & cold temps that the airbag system kinda freezes up. When the weater breaks and it gets considerably above freezing temps the bags and compressor work great. It drives me nuts and am looking for a good alternative suspension system but noone seems to be able to help. Anyoneon here have the knowledge I need. Thanks
