Back in August I got the A/C fixed on my car. Before I got it fixed I was getting 37 MPG on the highway. Basically they had to change out some part and convert from the old freon to the new freon. At first I just figured it was because of the newer style air conditioner and didn't really worry about it. This past weekend I took a 3 hour trip....both ways all on interstate and I only got 31 mpg and never had the heat or a/c on at all.
It seems oddly coincidental that I suddenly started getting worse MPG after they messed with my car. The check engine light doesn't come on.
What are possible causes of something like this happening? I know plugs can mess it up, I have a 1 year old Mass Airflow Sensor that should work fine. that caused a similar problem before but the check engine light came on when it had problems. The fuel pump is a couple of years old as well.
Any other suggestions? I don't exactly know a whole lot about cars.
