I was washing my car the other day and cleaned the rims with the turtlewax car wash+wax (same stuff i washed my car with). It took of the black nasty brake dust from the rims, but i could still see brown between the spokes.

whats the best stuff to clean the rims with?

Our cars have aluminum wheels right??

Use Simple Green. This stuff is f'n fantastic! It's not a harsh chemical but it take grease and grime and dirt and everything off easily. If you use it once you'll be using it for everything, not just wheels. I bought a bottle on a recommendation and once my friends saw how well it worked it was gone pretty quick. Great stuff.

Well I get mine from Canadian Tire. But look around at the big departments and automotive stores you should be able to find it. It's in a black spray bottle with green lettering.

Yes they are aluminum, silver finish with clear coat.
Make sure your brake rotors are cool when you wash your wheels, or you will warp your rotors.

The "Simple Green" is about the best to use.

The best way to keep them nice and clean, is to wash them once a week and give them a polish and wax every now and then to keep them in tip top nick. This will stop you having a hard time getting rid of the brake dust etc that builts up, as the wax will make the brake dust easy to get off.

Hey. I like Meguiar's Hot Rim cleaner the best. Its like 6 bucks a bottle, but I havent found anything I like better. It comes in a pink/purple bottle. makes me horny every time I use it. haha

Simple Green ownz joo!

I use it to clean..my motor, driveway, clothes that get oil or grease stains, washing the floor.....can clean just about anything. And it is also harmless to animals and the environment. The only thing I wouldn't do is wash the car with it, as it will strip the wax...unless you are rewaxing it anyway :p
