I feel for you man. I am getting stationed in Grand Forks AFB were the high in Jan is 4 degrees. My frine A1C Aguilar should be PCSing up to elmendorf sometime this week. I don't know if he will be in your shop, he is a 2A533A (Com/Nav).
edit: as far as damning the AF I got f'ed the most. they told me I could leave Kessler on Nov 7. So I bought a $300 plane ticket. I went to my final outprocessing where they give you your file to take to your next base and they told me I was on admin hold. So, my non-refundable $300 was gone, along with all my uniforms execpt for a crappy paor of BDUs. I also had no bed linens or clothes (most of my stuff was already TMO'ed). So I had to get another ticket for $400 because those assholse in the 365th TRS couldn't tell me the correct time I was leaving (the admin hold thing is a long story)

Woo Hoo! I won't be the only one at Grand Forks that posts on AF
BTW, it's in the 40's & raining right now - which is unusual for Nov.

I could handle a couple days - and yeah, that scenario sounds nice - but after 9 years in this shi1thole, the winter gets a little old...

North Carolina gets some fucked up weather. It has been 40 degrees F in the summer and 75 degrees in january. a couple of years ago, it was in the seventies one week during jan., and the next week we got hit with 2 feet of snow. Its gotten up to 115 and down to -10.
Variation sucks.

Where I live in San Jose, California, we have mild winters but with a lot of fog and rain. During the summer, It gets boiling hot. But overall, I like the weather. I enjoy warm temperatures.

I could handle a couple days - and yeah, that scenario sounds nice - but after 9 years in this shi1thole, the winter gets a little old...I see what you mean. It was the same when I lived in Sydney and we’d get those Summers where day after day it was unbearably hot and humid. Some days you could hardly breathe.

 I am about to embark on the torture of summer in Sydney. 30c + 80% humidity as a norm, 40c 95% humidity not rare. I'd give my left testicle for another back to back Northern Winter. Anything to be in Switzerland, Austria, France, Colorado, Utah, Alberta or BC Canada. :(:(:(:(:(:(

You should come and live in Auckland Oz, even though it's so close to Sydney the summers are much cooler and less humid. :D

when I was staying with my girlfriend in Rochester, NY (near niagra falls and buffalo) I swear to god it snowed every day and the temp barely went above 20 F. But when I shipped off to basic training in texas I learned that living in a burning wasteland, where rats should have sex and that's about it, really sucks a lot more then snow everyday.

Its 72 and sunny here in Huntsville. After two days of nasty down pours, which flooded Houston rather badly. http://www.click2weather.com/weather/2645306/detail.html#
If your bored, go to the slide show about 1/4 of the way down on the right side of the page. It really shows how bad it got. Not to mention at like 11 o'clock last night, traffic was still at a stand still.
