2000 Tahoe Keyless Entry

I've just purchased a 2000 tahoe z71(the old body style). It came with one remote, thats definately not made by GM.

I have an old remote from my 99 chevy blazer, and from a 96 chevy blazer. Is their any way I can use one of these remotes for my tahoe?

I've tried all sorts of methods listed on these forums to program the recievers.

I can't find the "DOC", nor do i know what the hell that is, or else i would of tried the "grounding pin a to pin g" method.

I guess my questions are:

How do i find out if my tahoe was even equipped with remote entry?
Where is the DOC?
Can i use my old keyless entry remotes?

Any other help would be appreciated.

Eric

Good question. I just bought one, too, and it didn't have any remotes with it. They are $62 from the dealer + $35 to program them. They did tell me that the ones from my daughter's '96 Tahoe won't work.

If they key is in the ON position during the programming procedure, the horn chirp will be disabled, if the key is in the OFF position, the horn chirp will be enabled. The horn will chirp when the lock button is pressed two times.

When reprogramming the remote control door lock reciever, All transmitters must be programmed at this time in order for the transmitters to operate the vehicle. Transmitters not programed at this time will not work and the procedure will have to be redone with all the transmitters.

Ground pin 4 to pin 8 of the data link connector (DLC). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors, and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds.
Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the first transmitter to be programmed until the locks cycle (approximately 10 seconds).
Repeat step 2 for up to four total transmitters to be programmed (if available). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds.
Remove the ground applied to the DLC.
Lock and unlock the doors in order to verify the transmitter operation.
Activate the rear window release in order to verify the transmitter operation.

This is for the base system. the remote will have 2 buttons, luxury system has 4 buttons and programminng is different.

Have each of the transmitters that you intend to program ready. This vehicle will allow you to program a maximum of four transmitters programmed at one time.

When reprogramming the remote control door lock reciever, All transmitters must be programmed at this time in order for the transmitters to operate the vehicle. Transmitters not programed at this time will not work and the procedure will have to be redone with all the transmitters.

Turn the ignition to the RUN position, then back to the OFF position. This will disarm the theft-deterrent system.
Remove the RADIO fuse (Fuse 17).
Turn the ignition from the OFF position to the RUN position three times quickly, within five seconds. The vehicle will respond by locking the doors, unlocking the driver's doors and releasing the tailgate or panel doors. The transmitter is now ready to match to the vehicle.

Press and hold the LOCK (1) and UNLOCK (2) buttons on the first transmitter for 15 seconds. The vehicle will respond as in step 3.
Repeat step 4 for the remaining transmitters.
Replace the RADIO fuse.
Check that all transmitters work by pressing their buttons.
