Hello all~
I just bought my first Jeep a few weeks ago a '95 JGCL, it drives great and looks awesome! The one thing that is leaving me a little confused is how to lock out overdrive and keep it locked out. Instead of being able to crank up and drive I have to depress the overdrive button (amber light does come on) and then depress the button again (amber light goes off) in order to go in drive mode. If I dont do this it seems to be in third gear and does not go through each gear as if you were in drive mode. Any advice or suggestions on this would be much appreciated, thanks in advance~

I have a similar problem going on with my '95 JGCL. Only with mine, I cannot make the overdrive light go off, meaning I can not get my transmission to stop sticking in third gear. I took it in to get it fixed and they said the transmission governor pressure solenoid and the governor pressure sensor needed to be replaced. However, on mine, they found metal shavings in the tranny pan. I called a mechanic I know and he said that since my Jeep has quite a few miles on it (116,000mi) that it is not likely that the solenoid and sensor are simply bad but rather that the trasmission is sending metal shavings through the sensor and solenoid causing the tranny to stick. He said I should look into getting a new transmission. I have not yet got it replaced but I hope this information helps you out a little. Post a reply if you find out a solution to the problem. Thanks
