WHat are your thoughts on street racing, cool or not cool? i cant see this topic anywhere so i assume it hasnt been done in a while, if it has sorry.

i personally dont mind stop light racing, and to some extent organized(if it is at a safe place and not on just a semi-deserted road. But point to point, and racing in industrial areas is stupid, i dont want to get killed by someone who doesnt know how to drive!!

I think its ok in certain aspects, dont do it with traffic and people around.

I'm out in the middle of no where if I hit something it'll be a stray cow or something of that sort, and know the road before you go to it. I've seen so many people race on unknown roads at high speeds.

Just know the consquences you are putting yourself into when doing this. I've calmed way down over the years, a bit odd if you ask me, finally got the car and the motor I wanted. I got to many things to live for specially my girl :)

Since your in the "street racing" forum I assume you'll get more positive answers than negative ones regarding street racing, however my personal opinion is I'd prefer people keep it either on the track, or done as safe as possible on the street if they do it, I hope they don't do it in residental neighborhoods or anywhere children are around.

Street racing is fine as long as it is done safely and with people who know how to drive. (Not a 16 year old who's parents just bought him a car and he decides to race it.)

I remember my mom telling me about a race the other day that almost killed people. It was icey outside and people were slipping and sliding. These two people were far behind her and quickly catching up to her. She and they were going down a two lane road (with two lanes going in the opposite direction) that turns into a one lane for each direction road. One flew up on her right side and the other on her left, which made that person on the left head into oncoming traffic. Thankfully, there was no oncomming traffic. The lane started to turn into one lane and the person on the left pulled infront of my mother by over a car length and pulled away quickly. The idiot on the right side cut my mother off, causing her to slam on the brakes and lock them causing her to slide. She gained control in time to see the idiot then proceed to do, i'm guessing, a fly by, since the guy infront slowed down to the speed limit. Anyways, the idiot continued to accelerate and pulled up to the other car. When he was near the bumper, he quickly switched lanes into the oncoming traffic lane. The idiots car, as a result of the icy ground, spun out and slid to a stop.

The above is stupid street racing.

Street racing is only good if there is little traffic to no traffic. Done in a place that is not residential. And done when there is little to no chance of harm being done to innocent people.

OK well the truth is that the hole thing is a stupid thing to do because no matter how good of a driver you may be or the other driver may be its still very dangerious. There are many variables to look at. So many that most racers overlook them.
Im not saying that the act of racing is necessarly wrong but its hard to justify what is a SAFE situation. I mean i usualy race along bridges in the centermost lanes. Late at night there are no other cars on the bridge, its on open area, no people, you can see the hole strech of road.
Everyone has raced at some time. As long as it is safe then its ok, but to often do people think they are safe and then end up dead.
Plz be carfull

agreed.

track is obviously the safer place, but to say that street racing is something that should NEVER happen is simply...well outragous IMO.

like mitzu and decoy both said, there is a time/place for it.

5 o'clock traffic in/out narrowly missing INNOCENT ppl is NOT the time/place.

Anyone who calls themselves a "street racer" instantly gets the poser judgement from me. Someone who loves racing will say they're a racer, even if they race on the street. Someone who who feels the need to specify they're a street racer is doing it for the image. If you talk to one of the idiots who goes flying through traffic, and ask them what their hobbies are, they'll say "street racing". If you talk to the people who street race in a safe* manner, and ask them what their hobbies are, they'll say "racing".

No I'm not rambling, there is a point in there.

Racers who sometimes race on the street are fine with me. Street racers can GO EAT A BAG OF DICKS!!!!!!!11111

* - it's never as safe as a track, but you know what I mean.

I get your point and I agree most people who have cars that actually have real work and time spent on them call themselves racers not street racers. And those people are more proud of the time they pull on a real track than what the estimate than can do or what cars they have beaten. Let's be honest racing on the street is always more dangerous and is never completely safe no matter where, when or by who but sometimes it happens.

Racing to the speed limit is such a waste :) Atleast when it's on city streets or community zones. The Caprice i drive can make it from a dead stop to 50kph in about a second.
