How to remove?

My max came with the wood dash and I want to replace it with the aluminum, but thats not the point, my question is how do I get the wood off with out scratching anything? I got a the section above my steering whell off, but with lots of scratches, and thats a nogo any help ?

I've heard that heating it up really good with a heat gun or HOT hair dryer will help.
