Gas Fumes

I have a 1998 Plymouth Voyager basic model. In the cold weather, and only in the cold weather, occasionally I get a very strong gasoline smell inside and outside the vehicle. It seems to happen after the van is warmed up and after I come to a stop at a traffic light/stop sign. It just came back from the dealership service department and they were unable to find any leaks or anything wrong with the engine performance. So here I have a van that smells like gas. Has anyone had this problem? What could be wrong? I need to get this fixed..it is choking us. Thanks... Mike

There is a recall on the fuel rail line on the 1998 voyager. There is a line about 18 inches in length that needs to be repaired. It sits on the drivers side of the engine compartment where the line omes from the pump.

I have the same problem with my 1996; however, mine has an ignition problem so when it misfires I get the smell of raw gas (note the error code 43 post). But I do get the smell even when it doesn't misfire. Hard to say if it's related or not.

:iceslolan Gas fumes; I have a 1996 Chrysler Town & Country and it has been recall several times for gas related problems that bring fumes into the inside of the car your auto dealership is oblgated to tell if your vehical has been recalled and must proform said repairs at their exspense. You can get a vehicals complete history on this web site; (http://www.carfax.com) if you are buying a used vehical, it also lists all of the recalls for single inquierie it will cost $19.95 but sometimes when going to the dealer it helps to be prepared. When I brought mind two months ago i checked several vans out on this servise. For multible vehciles it was $24.95 one vans was a salvage glad that I checked it out first.
