I want to know which ECU's can be used to send them to JWT for modifications so that it will afterwards be useful for my 1996 Automatic transmission Maxima.

What is the difference between OBD1 and OBD2?

Can any of these be used for mods?

Can an ECU from a manual transmission Maxima be used to modify it to meet my automatic's needs?

Can any 1995-1999 Maxima ECU be used for my situation?

How do I contact JWT??? I've emailed but never have I received an answer. Is there any other way of contacting them through the internet?

I think I can help you out with some of these questions.....

First of all, all OBD-1 and OBD-2 are is emissions ratings. OBD-1 was the 95 Maxima's made for all states except California, to my understanding. OBD-2 was for California Maxima's in 95 and all Maxima's in 1996. It has been suggested that OBD-1 Maxima's may have more power because of less restrictive exhaust, but it has not been proven to my knowledge.

For your situation, you are almost certainly going to need a 95 or 96 automatic ECU. There is no ECU mod for 97's and up. I'm almost 100% sure that the ECU has to match your transmission in its current form.

Try e-mailing JWT with these questions again, and if not, try the phone.

I hope the info I gave is useful. I'm not 100% sure about all of it, but from what I've been able to gather, I believe it is correct.

You should also consider Technosquare unless you are planning on the MEVI. I sent my ecu in Monday and got it back Thursday !

1995 or 1996 Nissan Maxima Automatic transmission ecu.

You should stick with a 96 and match your cars trim and transmission.

Can an ECU from a manual transmission Maxima be used to modify it to meet my automatic's needs?

Not to my knowledge. An automatic ecu will work in a manual but not vice versa. Note: an auto in a manual will throw the auto transmission codes in a manual but it will work just fine.

Can any 1995-1999 Maxima ECU be used for my situation?

Nope, just a 95-96 and I would take a 96/automatic tranny if I were you.

I would not bother trying to email them. You will need to call to make progress.
