I want to buy a new deck for near $150. I prefer sony, but if you have good experience with another brand can you tell me the strong points. I would also want a deck that can fold or hide itself.

Stay away from sony at all costs. They don't have good sound quality and they break

Pioneer, Alpine, and Eclipse are generally considered the top 3

I like Panasonic. I haven't had any problems with mine. I'll avoid Sony and Jensen for the rest of my life though.

you won't have one single good response about sony, i'd say pioneer, becasue that was the best one on your list but if you wanted to spend a bit more i would say alpine or eclipse.

Alpine is actually almost as cheap as most of the pioneers, same with eclipse.

blaupunkt, also makes good decks, it will be my next deck. you can get a fairly nice one on the net for 150$. it has the features of most $300-400, so for 150$ it is probly the best you can get.

I'm selling my Alpine CDA-7840 CD deck. Best sound quality you will hear for $150. :) Costed $400 a couple years back. I'm selling it here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=45&threadid=1122893&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=

I'd say Pioneer. I've also had a panasonic it wasn't bad but the sound output wasn't the greatest. Sony lol.
