*******Please do not flame me, if you dont like what im asking dont reply*****
Me and my cousins are starting our project on my 1995 ecplipse gsx, we are gearing more towards the show look,(that is why i posted the warning above, i know alot of you hate us "rice Burners", that slap rims on and think were fast) but our goal is not to race, but to compete in local car shows, my question that i have is, what exhaust system provides to most rice "burner sound" yes that right folks, i want to sound like a rice burner, can someone just help me out and give me some ideas. thanks

How does an exhaust that sounds "like a rice burner" help you win car shows? I thought it was supposed to look good. But what do I know, I just build race cars :icon16: Not flaming, I'm just curious. But to answer your question, trying to get a turbo DSM to sound ricey is like trying to make a honda fast. Shoveling shit against the tide if you ask me...
The turbo will take off that raspy ricey 4 banger sound and give you a deep mellow tone, regardless of exhaust pretty much. I cant think of any exhausts that will sound ricey on a DSM, but some other may have had other experiences.

95 gsxracer is right. The turbo will make any exhaust that you can put on there quiet. I could sell you a bumble-bee can and it would probably sound good. So, in turn I guess you would be better to not worry about sound but quality of the exhaust and get a nice looking catback that is going to stay clean and unrusted.

how about this... i'll take my turbo and everything else off my engine, put my old exhaust back on and i'll trade you straight up for the GSX!!! the way i use to have it made it really riceysounding! more like a dirtbike muffler!!! haha damn i'm glad i dont have that anymore!!!!!!!

I know that vibrant exhausts sound pretty ricey on non-turbos but I don't know about on turbos. With Vibrant, you get what you pay for, nothing.

Also, check into Magnaflow, I don't know what they sound like though.

MAgnaflow is very similar in construction to the Ultraflow. Like I said before, the straight through mufflers that tend to sound ricey on NA cars will sound deep and badass on a turbo car. Apparently not what this guy is looking for :sly:
