Cold Engine Noise Problem

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2002 GP GTP and I am having a problem where when my engine is cold I have an odd intake air suction noise at just above idle to about 2500 rpms. However, after it warms up the noise goes away. I have a Thrasher CAI so I am thinking that may play into the problem. However, the noise is not a constant tone and fluctuates quite a bit to make it sound like a mechanical problem.

I have read on the interent that the GP will try to recirculate some exhaust air or something to try and warm up the engine faster so whatever part handles that may be the problem. Do any of you have any idea what it could be or hints for me to check certain parts in my engine?

If I can't figure it out I will probably just take it to a dealer to check it out. I just hope they don't complain about other engine mods that I have done ( 3.4" pulley and Dynomax Cat-back) and blame it on one of them and then say they can't fix it.

Thanks for your help,

Ryan

I dont think you have a problem.

Sounds just like every other GP that Ive heard with a CAI.

Does the car run any worse?? Any SES lights??

Dont take it to the dealer if there is no problem.

I also have a 2002 GTP with a Thrasher CAI. Don't worry about the noise. It was there when your factory airbox was in the car, you just couldn't hear it.....just like you couldn't hear the blower.

The sound your hearing is air moving through the throttle body.
