i was just parusing throuth the different threads and something hit me! i remeber someone saying that the neon had no reliablity problems, but then i look at the forums and all the threads ask questions on how to fix something

OK I didn't feal like reading 5 pages, but I did read 2.5. The SRT-4 is a much better car for the money. Yes HP numbers are similar, but the SRT-4 has 100 more f/p's of torque. So for the 20K price tag, and the $400 upgrade kit from Mopar performance, you can be smokin $32K S2000's all day long.
That spec about the S2000 going 0-60 in 4.9 is a bunch of BS. It's more like 5.5, SRT-4 is 5.6. Wow, $12K less-I think I'll stick with the $200 a month less payments thank you.

Also, I said the SRT-4 does not have any reliability issues and it doesn't. The questions people are asking are about simple, small problems like O2 sensors. They are everyday small problems that tons of people with tons of different cars have everyday, yes, even Honda.

Well i also think some people are glorifying their cars saying they raced and beat an sti, evo, or a corvette. There are only three ways i see this happening one the other car is stock, two the other car isn't racing, or three the other driver cant drive. I heard some srt-4 owner say he beat a viper.( yeah right)But doesn't this happen with mustang owners and honda owners and all the others.
I personaly dont like the srt-4. Its interior/exterior aren't that great, but that can be fixed with a little bit of cash. The front end looks good but thats pretty much it. Yes it is a really great car for its price range and it can be made to go fast.

You are wrong and your own damn link says you are. The Viper was faster than the Vette and the Mustang on every test. The Vette won because of its price point, not because it was faster. Perhaps you should read the Motor Trend article where the Z06 and the Viper went head to head along with some other cars. All the cars were driven by Justin Bell, a C5-R driver. The Viper won against the Vette in every category. So I hope those words of yours taste bitter all the way down. Hell, perhaps you should read your own articles you posted again.

If you have a problem with SRT-4 drivers exaggerating their stories, take it up with those that are doing the posing, not the vast majority of Neon owners who do not do it. Second, think before you speak. You really think coming in to this forum and trying to put down all neon owners is gonna win you respect or make people think highly of you and your precious car? As for the people who say that their cars will beat something that is clearly able to outperform it, that's bullshit. I myself do not have any respect for those SRT-4 posers who say they have or can beat such cars as an Evo, STi, Lingenfelter Vette, Viper, etc. That is simply not true. As for the Corvette being a better performer than the SRT-10, that is a lie too. In the Vipers of the past, now, it may have been possible. The last two generations of Vipers were much harder cars to drive and much less forgiving than the SRT-10, although a driver who could master the skills needed to drive a Viper would have a highly potent car able to take on just about any other car in the world and give it a run for its money. However the new Viper is a very different and much meaner animal than the previous vipers, handling better and running faster than previous models. It out performs the ZO6 in every category with the exception of daily driving. But in a world of high-dollar sports cars, who buys a Viper for comfort?
But anyways, what i am trying to say is that I understand your anger for those SRT-4 fans who completely over-exaggerate and glorify their cars. You know what I love the most about this thread? It's mostly non-Neon drivers taking up the fight. LOL
The bottom line is, drivers of every make and model brag about their car, and how "fast" it is. It's the old fish story... nothing new at all.

the srt-4's are cheap i was able to buy one for close to $22,000 and that's the 2005 models.

Well i for one am on the Srt-4 side. The s2000 is a really good car but there is a new SRT-4 on the way its a light wieght SRT-4 half of it is mad of carbonfiber overall its about 300-400lbs lighter so that means less time to get to 60 so wachout s2000. P.s. SRT-4 is better! So screw ricers.

SRT-4 guy right here. I've raced and beaten S2000's on several occasions. Street and track. All i had for mods were a short throw shifter. On average, beat every one by a carlength. I love it when people talk shit about my "little neon". I ask them politely if they'd like to line up next to me and put a little wager on it. Guess what they say? "Oh i don't race for money", or "I'm not even gonna waste my time", or the best one i've heard yet, "I don't have enough gas to race you but i'll be right back from the gas station and my car will mop the floor with your neon". On the nights we meet up, i stay parked in the same spot all night. But i suppose you wouldn't know anything about that since you have no car and probably need to be home before dark anyways.
The threads you seem to be mentioning about our cars breaking are the ones about the amateur tuners adding some "home-made" mods. People are trying all sorts of stupid shit with their cars and then wonder why they run funny. 99.9% of reliability issues on the internet are the result of improper tuning. Educate yourself before infecting the thoughts of others.
BTW, Dodge underrated the numbers of the SRT-4. Try 230-240 HP and 250-260 TQ AT THE WHEELS, not the crank. These numbers are for the '04-'05 models with the '03 being slightly lower. Stage 1 turbo upgrade is $300 not $400.
As for people beating sti's....i don't doubt it. There are an increasing number of SRT's with 400+ WHP running around. Sti's and Evo's number are around the 300 range and that's at the crank. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong on this but these two particular cars do not respond as well to mods as the SRT-4. We have to go after the big boys or the moderately to highly modded WRX's or mustangs. If we race other FWD cars in our class, we're looked like bullies. actually the STi responds well to mods....but the $ is what gets you...mostly b/c it is and H engine...i saw the break-down of and STi engine and was like :22yikes: ....very complicated

the interior of a srt-4 is simple because thers no need to have all of this fancy crap in it aside from that the s2k crappy amout of torque it weighs 300 pounds more

hmm blu civic.... good point but u still cant beat the blow off sound , the olny thing i must say tha n/a is cool for would be the fact that ther is no turbo lag but i find turbo to be a more efficient way of getting quick power and responce in str8 line, most force induction vehicles would kick ass of a line instace an s2k since its already in the disscusion, against a tunned civic n/a or an srt-4 and for the sake of disscusion all of the cars have 280 hp. i would say the civic would eat the s2k and so would the srt-4 but then the srt-4 would either A. beat the civic right away or B. have a longer race in which that would be settled by driving skill
but honestly if a civic driver can smoke an srt or anything out of is class range for that matter deserves respect, like a friend that i have in a 93 civic hatchback dx. i saw him beat a v-6 stang and keep up real well with a 93 thunder bird the one with the v-8

I'm still laughing, a 250 WHP honda won't touch me. Why? Because I have 300+ ft/lbs of torque to the wheels. The honda might have 200. Yes hooking up is a pain in the ass, but I'll just whip out the drag radials that I go to the track with for that particular race. N/A sucks balls, you have NO low end power whatsoever because you have to run big cams to get power. And yes yes, VTEC....an ingenius idea for sure, but is a pain in the ass to tune without major equipment $$$.
Hell, I had a run-in with an LS1 T/A recently. As he was getting on the highway, I was in the left lane. I got on it and right beside him let my BOV vent (turboXS type H). Instantly he got right behind me (traffic in right lane). A long grade was coming up, we start up the hill....I downshift to 4th and get in the right lane. I let him dump it first, I floored it when he got to my back bumper. From 70 to 110 MPH I gained 1/2 car length on him. Not much, but not bad for a 250 WHP daytona. And my daytona is heavy, fully optioned power everything, 3100 pounds w/driver. And I STILL wouldn't mind racing a 2800 pound N/A integra with 250 WHP (if you can get that much out of an N/A engine on pump gas), thats a 30 HP advantage to the teg.
I used to be into Hondas. Then I found the torque advantage of turbo dodge's. These cars are the muscle cars of the 80's that get good gas mileage.
I'd like to see and SRT-4 race a S2K any day.

One other thing...The SRT-4 isn't a Neon. I went to my insurance company to get a quote on one once, and as we were going through I said neon SRT-4...no results! The Dodge SRT-4 is it's own classification, no neon in there. It's nothing like a neon anyway!
Of course, I couldn't afford the insurance payments though :eek: I could afford the car payment no problem, but tack on another 200 a month for insurance :headshake
For my daytona AND my 77' dodge truck I pay $700 a year.

Dude I'm 19 too and got quoted $200 a month. But I do have allstate insurance, reputable for lower rates.
If you're referring to the car being expensive, how can you do that? Thats a whole lot of car for $21K. Considering the S2K is like 34K, and an SRT-4 is just as fast if not faster.

You want to talk about people exadurating wins talk about allot of the 16 year old honda owners like yourself. In my personal experience someone told me that they had thier honda with intake exaust and a chip beat a TT supra. Now, I don't know about you but a TT Supra is a pretty fast car from what I understand. Also you see allot of my new civic just smoked a camaro, then they brag about they beat a Z28 or even some times as bold to say they smoked an SS this cannot happen. Hell even you wonderful S2000 couldn't stand a snowballs chance in hell against a stock Z28 or an SS camaro in a race let alone a Civic that wasn't boosted or on a hell of lot of Nitrous. You come here and saying SRT driver exadurate wins, sure everyone does, but look at your own forums first and listen to talk of the people around you, Honda owners are know to talk shit the most, no offense to the guys who have been posting in this thread because obviously they have some common sense and know what they are talking about. Ever type of car has drivers that over rate what they do, its life, your 16, you probabaly drive a 1986 subaru justy that cant pull an 18 in the 1/4th on a good day.
