can anyone tell me about a power inverter. I have all Power Acoustik components going into a bed in my dorm...2 12' subs, 1600W amp, 4 6'x9''s and a head unit....i heard about an inverter...also using a bettery with a rapid charger.......what do you guys think?

Since you posted the same thing in 2 threads I'll just respond to this one

You have 2 options that I know of
1) power inverter
2) car battery w/ charger

Power inverters are very limited to the current they can put out. I don't know how much power that "1600W" amp puts out, but it's probably close to 500, if that. (500/12)/.7 gives you about 60 amps. I don't know if there are any inverters out there that can handle a 60 amp draw, and if there are they are probably around $200.

The other option is to get a car battery and a house charger. This is a very ghetto setup, but some people do it and it gets the job done. Basically you just get a battery, hook up a battery charger and plug it in, then wire the amps straight up to the battery.
