Car just...died.

This is never going to end...I have the crappiest luck...I wreck the damn thing, get it back, the day after I get it back someone steals my license plate, then today the bitch just died on me. I was on my way to work, and my RPM's dropped, the car wouldn't accelerate. I managed to get into a driveway and out of the road, and when turning, I noticed that I had no power steering and no power brakes. The engine will turn over, but it won't start. The tach needle bounces when the engine is turning over. My interior lights and everything still work. Any ideas?

Well first thing is to find out what is missing from the spark, fuel, air combination needed to make the engine run.
Since you are asking the question, we will assume you have air so lets move on.
Next is to find out if you have fuel and spark.....
Remove a plug wire from the plug and place it close to the engine as you can..have someone spin over the engine while you watch to see if spark jumps out of the boot...if it does than you need to look towards the fuel system.

Well...it was the fuel system alright. The fuel pump went out on it. Fun. Times like these make me thank god that my father worked at a Chevrolet dealership for 12 years, I get my fuel pump at dealer cost. Hopefully I get my car back soon and don't have any more problems out of it for a while.

That's funny...the price I was quoted for my fuel pump was $260, and $100 labor to put it on.

I want GTPgirl's dealer. Mine just quoted me $750 to replace it.

Well, like I said, my dad worked at that dealership for 12 years, everything that gets done to my car goes through as an internal job. That's why mine was so cheap. The independent garage I went to first quoted me $585, instead of the $394 I ended up paying.
