Fuel Gauge problem

my fuel gauge constantly goes up and down. :uhoh: what the hell is going on? :sly:

1996 Nissan 240sx SE, KA24DE. occasionally my fuel gauge jumps on me. it drops beyond the E mark. however, when i am working the car driving over 60 on a street, the fuel gauge goes back to its original position. but as i drive back to restricted speeds the fuel gauge goes back down. so basically i see this happening all the time cause i'm driving from street to freeways constantly. at first i thought it was some faulty wiring to the odometer, but there are other possibilities.

sounds like some kind of electrical short. i'd just take it to a dealer. sucks, i know.
