automatic thoughts

I have an 82 c10 with the SM465 3 speed, and i want an automatic.
I just wanted to know what the swap envolves(mostly under the hood).
any ideas are aprceated.

First of all you need to get a different flywheel. Then you need to measure from the front of the bell housing to where the trans mount is to see if you need a long or short tail shaft automatic. Depending on which length you get you may have to get you driveshaft shortened or get a longer one. Also, you need to make sure you have the mounting bracket for the kick down cable...Also, you will need to run tranny lines and a cooler if your radiator is not equipped.
