I am usually here trying to help people, now I need some advice.
My 88 Vette developed a whining alternator and the voltage was a little lower than normal. I finally had some time to check it out, or at least I thought I was.

I popped the hood and only the driver's side released. I hooked the cables behind the lever w/my finger and I could feel one had resistance and the other one didn't (CRAP!!!). If I pull up on the driver's side of the hood, I can barely see where the cable clips onto the latch. I can see the mechanism and tell how it releases but there is no way to gain access to the mechanism on the right side to flip it loose.
Any good advice would help,
Thanks,
---TEX---

If my life depended on a reply from someone, I would have been dead a long time ago.

I fixed it, like 2/weeks ago.
I had to remove the rear portion of the right front inner fender. I couldn't see anything but when I finally got my hand snaked up inside, I could feel the latch. With a cramped finger I finally flipped the latch and opened the hood.
Thanks for the reply Mr.Tepes. -- You need to go for a ride in one of those new fangdangled machines-- You will certainly enjoy it.
Be cool man,

Bro,

I try to help when I can.
What was wrong with the Alt?
Tex where in Texas are you?
I'm from El Paso but lived in Houston for like 15 years. So I consider Houston home.
Anyway glad you got it fixed.
If the new ones are as cool as my ol 75 was man I can wait to jump in one of those mofos
Cheers Mate

Always glad to hear from another "native" Texan. I am in the San Antonio area. Bay Town is a cool place to be, what made you leave and where is home now?
I took pieces from another alternator and made it work. Seems like the regulator was acting screwey.
I have a friend that owns a C-3. Those are cool for sure, but I like the suspension on the C-4.
Later man,
Happy trails!

SAn Antonio is a cool area to visit... never lived there..

I'm in Perth Australia now.. I call it my second home. I still bleed red, white and blue just like the Texas flag oh yeah and America too =)
Well long story short I moved to be with my wife. and when her mum finally kicks the bucket we'll move back. Mum cant really take care of herself and she's an only child with no relatives here.
When the hell do I stop being a newbie..LOL
good to meet ya bro like to see that 88 of yours.
My 75 was great regret selling that bad boy.

At least you got to do some traveling. I love watching the Austrailian V-8 Super Cars races on Speed. Amazing stuff, for sure.
Sorry to hear about your Shiela's mum.
I helped my mom w/my dad's last days. It's tough, i know how you feel.
My regards,

Thanks bro...
There no last days yet sorry for the confusion.
She's italian so we still got another 15 years before we get any peace...LOL
She's 75 and still strong as an ox.
Super cars are awesome but I like the pro race (Guess its like pro stck)here. They have all the WRX's and Lancers Beemers and and a Lambostuff.. much more rubbing and it can be anybody's race. No one has a really big sponsor.
But for grunt power V8 super cars are awesome... you ever make it out here man we'll go to one..LOL

That would have to be a sight to see. I love the German Touring Cars races also. Sounds like the Aussie pro race would be up my alley as well. We went to Germany a few years ago, might be a while before we make it over that pond. Have to take you up on the offer.
One race I plan to spectate is the F-1 cars at Indy. Ahhhh, the sound of 19K rpm screaming V-10s. That's on my to-do list too.
Be cool,

Bro you make it here and you almost dont want to leave.
Yeah I want to do the F1 cars too....

Well got a 4 bedroom house 2 spare rooms. The way it works here is if you come here you welcome to stay as long as you.
If I go back the offer needs to be returned.
No paying for hotels.

I think the post was "The sound of sweetness" in the 750IL section. Never really got a reply on that.

Any idea on how a Bimmer V-12 sounds with a healthy exhaust system? All the ones I have heard you can't even hear (does that make any sense?).

There are talks about the American GP being a flop the last 2 yrs. I guess I better go before they shit-can it. They still have an Auatrailian GP, right? I haven't missed a gp race in 3 yr, but I can't exactly remember that one. It is probably a sold out show. Most Americans don't know what real racing is. The masses here think NASCAR is racing--more like a 200mph traffic jam. Some guy accidentally craps in his seat and they throw a yellow flag.
F-1 is, and will always be the ultimate.
Cheers!,

Yeah I thought that about Nascar too here man its so much better lot more rubbing and like I said anyone can win it not just the big sponser ppl.
The V12 Beemer I've only heard them stock well like you said I know it was a V12 but it didnt make any damn noise..LOL
What about that motor bro?
