Well, since the S4 isn't going to be made here anymore, Audi's decided to go thru with what they WANTED to do with the TT from the start.
If all goes as planned, the Audi TT will recieve a slightly higher output version of the Audi S4 engine (hp is being bumped to roughly 300hp).
This should make for a screamin' lil car!

The S4 is supposed to come back in two years. I also heard that Audi is coming out with a 265hp TT for model year 2003. Then possibly a 300hp TT after that. I can't wait for either one!

So far, I haven't heard anything about the S4 returning.
As far as I've been told (I work for Audi), the S4 is gone and the TT will get a serious bump in performance.
Audi's original plan was to go to 300ish HP in 2003. But I could see it getting something like 270hp and then 2004 getting the full 300hp. A gradual increase...

My information does not come from a source inside Audi so you are probrably right. Do you know why they decided to stop making the S4?

Not too sure why they decided to stop.
Maybe sales weren't too good, I'm not sure. All I do is fix 'em :D
However, I just heard about the S4's replacement.
They are making a new model, the A3 and there will be an "S" version to go along with it....
Hopefully as a 2003 model. Maybe even sooner.

A3? What engine will it use?
I am glad my lease is up for model year 2004. Audi and others have some great stuff comming out over the next cople of model years. I can't wait to see them all.

I'm not sure what engine its going to have.
I only catch bits of info.
But Germany has a lot of models and Audi hopes to bring some over.

:( no more S4. Oh well, 928 S4s were cooler anyways. I think the TT could stand a nice little boost anyways. A bit of a diet too, a sports car should weigh about 2500 lbs.

S4 will return in the new body style with a 300+ hp V8 , and i think that the TT only gets more powerful 1.8T , because this 2.7 won't fit in there , and it wasn't meant to be mounted horizontally...
Just my 0.02
Anyway the new RS6 kicks ass , i don't know if you have it in the US , but a blown V8 with 450 hp , quattro and 6-speed:eek: ... I can't wait to drive that car... I hope i will in near future....

Audi did not decide to stop making the S4 for any reason, rather they continued it as a model due to high demand after the last of the A4s had left the factory. It is just the evolution of a car that performance editions and more powerful engines are released months or even years after the new models initial introduction.
The tt will not get a v6, I have heard rumors of a 300hp engine but asume it will still be the 1.8t. F.Y.I. tuning a current model 1.8t to 300hp or more would be a snap, I'm surprised Audi hasen't already done so. The engine and driveline are plenty tough.

Yeah, there is mad power in the 1.8T
I've seen the RS6, and that thing is crazy. I love Audi, they make their best performing models station wagons!

A bit of info on the new RS6, along with all of the S line

I guess the tt will get a v-6. European Car magazine reports that European TT's will soon be available with a revamped version of Vw's 204hp 2.8 liter vr-6 non-turbo 24valve engine making about 300hp. A North American model will hopefully follow. I don't think it will be sold as a turbo model, though it will be likely that independant tuners will offer a twin k03 or single k04 turbo package capable of 400+ hp.

No change is occuring to the current model TT, except that the 180tt veriosn will only come in Auto and non quattro.
Rumors of the upgraded engine, giving 3 levels of performance (265. 280 and 300hp ) ill take effect on the new platform(redesigned) in 04/05.
S4 is comming to the states in the new 4.2lv8 version. Ir is not being replaced by the A/S3 which is not a new model, but a current production model outside the states.

The entry-level Audi TT will come packed with one of the company's 2.0-litre FSI powerplants. FSI is basically direct injection of fuel into the combustion chamber, though the whole process is far from basic. Click here for more info on FSI.
The 2.0-litre FSIs will be inline four-cylinder jobs, replacing the existing 1.8-litre turbo engines. Basic output from the 2.0-litre mill is expected to be about 112kW, while a turbocharged FSI engine will make closer to 135kW of power.
More interesting, perhaps, is that Audi will be plonking two variants of a 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine under the TT's bonnet. All models will be four-wheel drive, and sources estimate the naturally aspirated V6 will put out in the vicinity of 200kW of power. Audi's offering a very mean 3.2-litre, 260kW TT coupe.
Consider that the new model will be lighter, in large part due to the aluminium body, and will have improved handling, thanks to steering geometry and suspension revisions
HEY BLACKBIRD!!!!!! loss the image in your signature it's too big and it's annoying
