Not sure if this ha been asked before cause I'm new here. I have a 1996 ford escort with the 1.9L engine, auto transmission. Now the question is...at 65 mph I am doing 3k rpm's and I am just curious if this is normal..I am in overdrive when this happens. A friend said my tranny is bad but I hate to spend money if nothing is wrong. Thanks in advance.

Sounds normal to me. I would'nt worry about it as long as it is'nt slipping, making funny noises or smell's.

yeah that sounds pretty normal. I had a 93 tracer(auto) and that ran at 3 grand on the highway. same with my escort(manual) she'll run right around 3 grand at highway speed. so everything is fine. I thought it seemed high when I first got it too, but thats where they run.
