okay, i found a early 90's supra (non turbo) that needs a little body work and a engine for $500. before i buy it i have some questions i hope you guys can answer.

first, how rare are used turebo motor's in salvage yards?

2. around how much do you think it would cost to convert it over to the turbo motor?

3. anyone ever do a chevy V8 swap? i can get a cheap 350, and i know it will fit so i thought i would ask :)

oh, and how much do you think it would cost to install a toyota V8, and what vehicles had the V8's ?

thanks.

Actually the american muscle V8 swap into a MA70 hasn't been done that much, people usualy opt to swap a V8 into the FC RX-7, because the car is roughly 1000lbs lighter and granny's speed shop makes a few cheap conversion kits (motor mounts/subframe, trans mount, and all the other small things you need). The MKIII is prolly not the best cantidate for what your looking for if your thinking about a V8 swap. As for the 7M-GTE in local yards, well that's up to you. Call around all the local junk yards and ask if they have any 87-92 turbo toyota supra's. There not rare here, but you might not have any, or you can always look at online yards like www.car-parts.com . If you do find one you'll need to get the engine harness, ECU, engine and trans and everything bolted to it obviously, IC and piping, oil cooler with lines, driveshaft, and the differential because that n/a probably has a 4.3 open diff, 87-88 turbo had 3.909 LSD, 89-92 turbo had a 3.73 LSD. Also You might want to look at importers for a 7M-GTE, try

For the toyota V8, you'd want to look at the 1UZ-FE, it's the Lexus V8, been swapped into the Supra a few times, fits quite nicly from what i hear.

well heres a ta22 celica with a blown 4.8 litre v8.

if they can fit one of these in a tiny lil celica, im sure a 4 litre with all the tech stuff can fit nicely into an mk2 supra. the 2800cc block is very long and i think there should be room to spare with a small v8

That might be a 4.8, but it's not blown, just has a street catcher style scoop.

hmmm could have sworn it was supercharged...

i knew from begining the scoop is there for no real reason, but look in top left corner of engine bay, looking from the side of the car, or bottom left when lookin from front of car. to me that looks like a lil supercharger... i could be wrong??

mebbe a real massive starter motor?

Nope, that's just a alternator, but for some reason it has a duel pully on it, with only one belt lol. :)
