88 Dynasty, no spark

I just got done putting a set of head gaskets into a running 88 dynasty. I get it all back together, and I have no spark now. Looks like I have all the grounds back in place, and everything is plugged in. My ASD relay was buzzing, so I bought a new one, and still nothing. Coil is new too. I noticed some smoke when I first started it behind the alternator, and the ground strap that went from the firewall to the rear support bracket was REALLY hot. I removed the ground strap, and used 10ga copper wire, and moved the ground to the intake manifold, farther from the alternator. I noticed it was bolted to the firewall with another ground line, attached to a little black box with some wires coming out of it. I have no idea what it is, anyone else know? My Haynes manual is useless, all it concentrates on is the 3.3 and 3.8L engines, and LeBaron's.
