I owned an '89 previously regret ever selling it!!!
I'm looking at an '88 si w/4WS and 112k mi. asking $250
Rust over both fenders and interior is not bad
Timing belt is broken many bent valves...
I have estimates for repair and they are reasonable...
My question is how often is the bottom end damaged (cracked Piston etc) when timing belts blow or do they blow soon after due to the change in compression in the new head?
I would appreciate any feedback from anyone whos has been through this as I am trying to decide weather to buy this 1 or not.

i personally wouldn't want a car that i'd have to take to a mechanic as soon as i got it. My opinion is, save ur money a little more and get a car that ur not gonna have any problems with

Why dont you just do a complete swap for a 2.1 from a '91 or something? Those engines are pretty cheap, and the swap shouldn't be that hard if you have the tools.

Buy the 88 4ws and simply swap it over! It's not very hard at all. It's 99% bolt in.. If your b21a1 starts burning oil like crazy just buy a jdm b20a for it and call it a day.
