RX-8 vs. My GF

This was monday night around 8:45, I had just got off the Mass Turnpike way out in the west. I was on my way to pick my gf up from school cause she had Tuesday off. Right after getting off I pull into the gas station to get gas. I go inside to pay and when I come out there is this nice looking silver car with the owner pumping gas. I had no clue what it was cause I had never seen one before but I will say it was sharp. So I go an pump my gas and when I leave I make sure to drive behind the car and I see the letters RX-8.

I go pick-up my gf and hop back on the Mass Pike for the long ride home. I was on it for about 5 minutes cruisin at 70mph. I see headlights catching up to me but pay no attention. The car gets on my drivers side and slowly inches even with me and rides there for a minute. I finally look over and see the same silver RX-8. I see him give it gas and let off, give it gas and let off. My gf wasn't paying attention, she was talking to me about something I wasn't paying attention too. :evillol: Now my gf doesn't like me street racing or doing something dumb on the street cause she doesn't want to see me get in anymore trouble.

So I was driving along thinking if I could get away with this at all, when I hear her say "Don't even think about it with me in the car!" I obviously try to convince her rather unsucessfully that the notion had not even crossed my mind. :banghead: Anyway the guy in the RX-8 gets on it and he accelerated very nicely. So now my I'm wondering how fast are those new RX-8? and how are they 65mph-110+mph?

Would've been a murder :D and they are over rated, heard they are recalling their cars for false advertisement of HP lol.

This horsepower issue had also happened to the Ford Mustang, Mazda Miata, and Jaguar S-Type R

The manual RX 8 is now rated at 238bhp and 197bhp for the automatic.

maybe they plan on lying then the next year bump the crap out of the HP.. would work faking out insurance company's :wink:

Petit Racing down here in South Florida has a new rx8 they tuned. I dunno exactly what is done to it but it sounds DAMN mean. You can hear it rev real loud from about 500' away and just say damn that sounds like a beast! Saw em get it sideways on the side street they are on the other day, looked like a pretty good handling car.

You might wanna ditch your girlfriend. She doesn't exactly sound too excitement minded, but if you love her stay together. I really can't stand having a back seat driver the entire time i'm actually trying to enjoy myself while in the car. Of course on crowded streets it is a serious safety issue, where even I wouldn't want to race.
As to your question, the new RX8 stinks from a acceleration standpoint. They actually dynoed one in SCC to the tune of 188 whp. Pretty bad considering it isn't exactly the lightest car. They had to lower the official horsepower rating, much the same as the Mazda Miata had to lower it's HP rating (Ex. 155 it went down to 141 I believe). The car's are a gem to drive through a track from what I am told, but an STi or a Evolution would be a far better purchase IMO. They also would kick quite a bit of dirt in the RX8's face as well. They really need to turbocharge that motor. Can't deny it's looks though.

A Mitsubishi Evolution will smoke its ass in the 1/4 mile, at the track, and also has better interior room (If that is what you really want in a sports car). The RX8 sucks, pure and simple. They overrated the HP, and now they are relying on how well the car handles. That doesn't matter if you can't push the car out of the turns (No real torque). They should've made it a 2 seater. The RX7 twin turbo is light years better IMO. Oh, and that back seat may be good for small children, but us 6' will complain back there.

The R35 concept has a different drivetrain than the G-35 coupe. It looks more like a 350Z to me.
