Hi :-)
I'm 17, and I just got my driving license.
I told my father I want a comfy car that is powerful. To my suprise, he bought me a 1994 S500 coupe.
I have a few question that I would like to know, that I wouldn't dare to ask my father, I really hope you guys can help me out.
I would like to wheel-spin my car, is it possible for this this sort of weight to do so?

One more question, what kind of upgrade for the exterior can I get on the market?
Does AMG or Brabus provide any bodykits for the particular model? I can't seem to find any information for AMG or Brabus on this model :(

Thanks in advance.

sure you can burn the rubbers, turn off the traction control (if so equipped), then step on the brake and hold it there, then step on the gas.
Besides burning the tires, you are also burning your brake pads!
AMG, Brabus should still have the body kits, try asking around.
Also you can look for Carlsson and Lorinser.

Is it in N gear or D?

How much does the bodykits cost?
I like Brabus a little more than AMG cosmetic-wise... Powerwise is AMG for me :-)

D, use ur left foot to step on the brake and hold it, then right foot step on gas, then the braking power will be outpowered by the big torque.

Will my car doughnut?

your car will do anything you ask it to do.
but just becareful, its no fun to play aruond with a 4000+lbs car

Ok, I sure don't want anything to happen to myself.
There are four sparkplugs that need replacing.
The electronics are also faulty (I can't reverse or go over small hills), I got that replaced, and of course, claim the repair fees from the previous owner.

since its a 10 year old car, maintanence (cost) is a problem you have to worry about.
my family never kept a mercedes over 5 years old.
for the body kits, I was looking at the Lorinser ones for the current CL-class, front & rear bumper will add up to almost $6000USD, side skirts are about $1200USD each, installation not included.
I believe there are still body kits for your car, I remember seeing it in some Mercedes tuning catalogue a few months back.
I don't think the price would be much different from the ones for the current models.
This is the pain for owning a Mercedes.
No matter how old your car is, Mercedes parts always comes in Mercedes price.

Yeah, I saw that kit in another topic here. Really nice kit! But they are just too expensive...
Is that bodykit you mentioned for the S500 Coupe or Sedan version? Does it make it more sportier?

I drove my S500 Coupe to my local park yesterday morning for some jogging sessions, to my suprise, I got all the stares from everyone from the car park. I'm not use to this though...

I noticed something when I was driving it. When I drive fast (100kmh) And I brake for the upcoming hump on the road, I noticed the car skidded forward a little before slowing down.
Is it because of the velocity/weight of the car?

MioCLK
11-20-2003, 02:28 AM
I believe it was a S500 coupe, and sportier? hm....not much
i understand why you get the stares, because I sometimes drove in my dad's S-class when I was 16, hehe!!
hm..I don't really understand why you mean by "skid",
do you mean that you feel the car being pushed forward?
If thats the case then it is normal, as when you brake, the weight moves forward.

Rossie

Kinda like the weight thingy you said, I think it's appliable to heavier cars only?
I don't get that problem with my Pajero Evo and Supra.

I don't know whether is it the number 1 number plate or a 17 year old driving an expensive coupe or a 17 year old driving a Merc that got me all the stares... Sigh... To bad that the majority of the people who stared at me were in their 50's... No chicks in sight... lol...

Rossie

Do you have any info/links to the kit you've mentioned for the S500 Coupe?
It's just so damn hard to find anything for the S500 Coupe......

MioCLK

hm...not sure what your situation / problem is, I think its better for you to ask someone who can sit in your car and "feel" the problem.
The Lorinser site does still have pictures

Actually, it isn't much of a problem. I got ticked off by a busybody teacher at my school that morning.
Although it's the holidays, but I need to go back to school to hand in some form, but I was in a hurry that day. I rushed a little to the hall by driving about 100kmh in the school compound, because there was a hump in the middle of the road, I braked hard, so the car 'skidded' in front a little, therefore attracting attention from the students and teachers nearby. He told me 'This is not a race track, don't drive too fast in the school compound. And do you know that students aren't allowed to drive their vehicles in?'. I was sooo pissed off. I answered him by asking him whether he was jealous or what. It's good to be arrogant once in a while driving a Merc! lol...

I saw the Lorinser kit, it's actually looks like crap...
I would rather get the S600 Coupe kit.

So why would you want to ruin it with a bodykit?

Rossie
01-07-2004, 01:25 AM
I just want some front and back lip, so that my S500 Coupe could look more lower, hence more sporty.

So, like an AMG type of thing? Keepin' it tasteful?

Rossie
01-08-2004, 05:04 AM
Yeah, tasteful is the word here.
AMG adds that extra class to a Mercedes.
I'm leaning more to AMG then Brabus, AMG's more conservative, not that daring as Brabus, and that's why I like AMG a little more.
Note: I like Brabus also.

Daddys boy!

I mean... This is just not right... I had to buy my first car myself... I started out with a 1990 Volvo 240 (that will never die as long as my heart beats) and i had to work my way from this 13 year old kid with a dream of being the next Richard Branson, with $250 and a laptop connected to the net. Then i had to work to earn money and then invest in stocks and trade my way up to my current financial status...

That's the way it's supposed to be...

Or, so I think anyways... :D

Rossie
01-20-2004, 08:39 AM
I want to do that too.
It's more satisfying to buy things with your own hard earned money.
Maybe I'll get my own CL65 AMG one day with my own hard-earned money :-)

hmm...

you know, a S500 Coupe is rare in Norway... Probably not more than 15 of them here... But then again, we have SERIOUSLY high taxing on cars... And one liter of petrol cost like $1

Rossie
01-24-2004, 11:16 PM
There're only three S500 coupe here... lol...
And one 500 sec. Beautiful though! I think only Merc fans would like it.

its a matter of opinion... i like the new e-class... my dream is cl65 amg... now THAT is a car... hehe

Rossie
01-26-2004, 12:47 AM
Hey!
The CL65 AMG's also my dream car!!!
Yeah!
Dunno when I could afford one with my own money though...
I saw one CL600 passing by my school a few weeks ago. I was like "Meh... My S500 Coupe can smoke him...".
I saw an E55 AMG parked outside the mall. I hate the new E-Class, but THAT's just too beautiful to hate!
Just wondering. How old are you? I'm 18 this August.
How much is the taxes imposed on the cars over there? Here's a good 300% on the cost price. Damn government...

bludnik
01-26-2004, 01:52 AM
I'm 19 in May...

Taxes? Extremely high...

Examples:

New Mercedes CL 55 AMG: 309 864 USD
New Mercedes CLK 240 Elegance: 83 378 USD
New Mercedes E 320 Elegance : 112 419 USD
New Mercedes S 500: 205 542 USD
New Mercedes SLK 32 AMG: 144 305 USD

Rossie

!!!
That's still very cheep!
An S350L cost about US$231,000 here!
A used 1995 I6 twin turbo 500bhp 6 speed manual transmission Supra cost about $40,000.
The new E240 is about US$100,000.

Rossie
01-26-2004, 05:29 AM
A used Diablo cost about US$178,000.

bludnik
01-26-2004, 05:52 AM
Oh... you're from Malaysia... LOL... Thought you were from the USA...

Shipping probably makes the price for new euro-cars high where you live...

Used 2000 mod Diablo are priced from USD 384 763

Rossie
01-27-2004, 05:34 AM
That Diablo was a 1995 model. Though I'm not sure what model it was. Are all Diablos limited editions and highly collectable?

((sigh))

17 year old kid gets GIVEN a powerful premium-class car for his first set of wheels, so naturally the first thing he wants to find out about it is how to do burnouts. Next question is about donuts. And whether you accomplish these feats in N gear or D ..

And of course wants the obligatory bodykit to add distinction, no doubt while doing 100 inside the school compound!

Anyone else smell a disaster looming? Perhaps a limb or a life, but either way that S500 is doomed :shakehead

Hello,
I'm 19 this August... LOL...
Anyway, I didn't get to do anything stupid with my car, after a while, a car is just... well... a car... A beautiful car by the way.
Sold the Supra last March, the engine was giving me a lot of problems.
