Greets..
Today I talked with someone from down here in the D/FW area (online) who is quite an impressive driver. His list of cars is also rather impressive. He is telling my friend that he ought to supercharge is teg-GSR w/o getting exhuast upgrades either before or ASAP after. i told my friend that exhaust upgrade would benefit both proformace and it would also put less strain on his engine.
My friend's friend, Markass, comes at me sideways saying that header and catback exhuast wouldn't help or hurt the engine or proformance one way or the other (lol, right.. dyno proven that exhaust helps.. f/i makes exhuast even more useful). Then he's coming at me about backpressure and all.. i couldn't get to the purehonda post about backpressure before he took off, but he obously didn't understand.. (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t13199.html) if you are curious about backpressure.. great post!..

Anyways, he says "Degg996: im not going to put exhaust on my s/c'd R" then.. "Degg996: stock type r exhuast flows better than any other exhaust... totally proven" and of course that couldn't be said w/o saying "Degg996: type r exhaust it perfect" finally...Degg996: why wouldnt they put the most powerful exhaust on the car they are trying to get the most power out of
Degg996: and the intake is perfect as well
Degg996: you loose power with the AEM... DYNO PROVEN
Degg996: and street prove"

okay, will someone help me out here?! i'm i really that far out of the loop or is this just some rich kid who's mommy and daddy pay for him to race, or does he really have some good info.. i'm really courious because if he's right (which i don't believe he is) i could be saving some money right now. Thanks for replys!

dude look up dyno charts on AEM websites. aem doesn't make it lose power.

IMO the ITR stock exhaust and stock intake are already damn good but they are definetly not perfect! I think the car would be much more expensive if all the parts would be perfect. But he´s right that these parts are already well designed.

hes a dumbass, of course u get power from the proper intake/exhaust upgrades. why would companies spend so much r and d flow charting intakes and exhausts if they werent gonna make any more power?

they don't care how much power it makes...they care about how much money they can make off of decieving dyno charts and such...as long as they make more money than they spend, they are happy

as for superchargers...overlap kills superchargers especially with the stock exhaust (2.25" not great for FI) and the ITR has a lot of valve overlap......a free flowing exhaust (3" is good for SC apps) along with a Kamikaze header and 3" carsound cat will be an excellent combo...as for intakes, they are all the same...you can design a AI that will make more power than a AEM....AEM CAI's aren't mod specific to each car...I would choose to design one myself to best suit my mods and build it myself...but if you don't have the resources to do this, then AEM is as good a choice as anyother CAI

like i said, u will recieve gains from a PROPER intake or exhaust, that doesnt mean a randomly put together steel pipe with something resembling a muffler which was only designed for profit as u said, but one that has been properly researched on a flow bench and the like
