I was just wondering what a stock camaro z28 LT1 would compare to in the import world, if anything, no nitrous or turbo or supercharger, just say completely stock for now

Well...

'93 - 95 Z28 LT1's had about 265hp. Mid year in '95 they got a dual cat exhaust and gained about 10hp, so some '95s have like 275hp. In '96-97 the SS was re-introduced to the market with 305hp.

In a straight line, a stock Z28 with the LT1 runs in a dead heat with non-turbo Z32 Nissan 300ZX's, turbo MkIII Supras, non turbo MkIV Supras, and non-turbo FC's.

Cornering, a stock Z28 is about on par with a Lexus SC300, a Z31 Nissan 300ZX, or a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo.

whoa no way really... I eat 4.6's ;)

j/k :lol2:

LT1's will take really good to mods, so if you leave it stock for now it'll do a fairly good job, start slapping on mod's and it'll be a beast.

i'm pretty sure an auto LT1 will run a 14 flat so it'll move

Actually I had the SS before my GT, but I dont have it anymore :(.
Im thinking of getting another f-body though but I dont plan on getting rid of my Stang anytime soon. Once Im through with my classes, which will be mid next year, Im going to be looking for a WS6, Firehawk or an SS. Specifically the Anniversary edition :D

Nope they are faster then those cars. To answer your question author.
93-95 LT1 = 275 hp
96-97 LT1 - 285 hp (Y pipe)
They dyno in the 240-250 rwhp range from what I have read. They basically fall flat on their face in the higher rpm range, unlike the LS1. With a decent set of heads/cam (Which are dirt cheap for an LT1), you can have a really good top end. All around they have the same potential as the LS1, although the LS1's engine is lighter (Aluminum). Don't believe all the BS about the LT1 being able to handle more boost then an LS1, just cause it has a 4 bolt head. I've heard that it is also BS.
Typical performance figures for an LT1
0-60 5.5-5.8 sec.
1/4 mile 14.2-14.4 sec. @ 97-100mph.
Top speed 152 mph.

ok this z28 speed has had me thinking lately.

acesnyper says they run a flat 14.0.

others have been saying it runs a 14.5.

and now layla, one of the guys on the forums who really knows his shit, says that it runs completely even with a z32 n/a.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????

what the hell does it run?

it all goes back to that race on the hiway, i dont know if it was bull or not but i thought i took the bastard.

Road & Track, June 1994

"Does this new focus make the new Maxima a performance lightweight? Hardly. The 1995 Maxima showcases an all-new 3.0 liter V-6 engine, the first of a family of bent sixes (also displacing 2.0 and 2.5 liters) that will power numerous front- and rear-drive Nissans, including the next 300ZX, well into the 21st century."

i have also seen other quotes where a maxima can out-accelerate a z32, and if i can take a z32, why can't i take a z28?

its really irritating the hell out of me that people don't know how fast a z28 really is, when it's been one of the mainstays in racing for quite some time.

Stock 1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 with 320hp and AWD will beat the LT1(all depends on driver of course) when my car was stock i managed to pull 13.93@103mph.
If an LS1 was driven properly im shur it could prob match that but im no professinal and i can beat the 14.2-14.4 times in my stock car:)(its heavly modified now 725hp and 150shot NOS)
