1999 Ranger engine

i have a 99 Ranger that has a blown motor...my friend has a 94/95 ranger with a good engine in it...both are 3.0's but will his work in mine? the oil pump went in mine and the engine seized up...the pistons didnt shoot out or anything so maybe i should just try gettin a crankshaft kit and rebuilding it? i dont know much about engines but im tryin to get outta this as cheap as possible lol...any help would be great
