What can I do to a 98' Spyder GS to make it sick fast. I have about 8 grand to put into an engine swap, turbo, headers, exhaust ect... What can I do? I want it to scare me.

Well, the easiest thing would be to leave it N/A and have the head, Intake manifold and throttle body ported and polished. There are a few companies out there that do this, it usually costs $1500-$2000, and you send them off together and they match up all the holes perfectly, and rebuild the head with larger, lighter valves and stiffer valve springs. You will need larger injectors and fuel pump once this is done, and some form of fuel management (piggyback or stand alone). Then of course some kinda intake and full header back exhaust. I would say a direct port 150 shot of nitros would be pretty fun, get 2 composit 10-20lb bottles, bottle openers, warmers, perge kit, etc.... Then get some eibach pro springs, some tokiko or kyb or tien shocks, light 17" or 16" wheels and put the rest of your money into lightening the car (cf fenders, hood, etc...). That would probably be the most efficient use of your money.

and please make adjustments for fuel before you have the head ported and polished and put nitros on the car. People dont seem to think a port and polish job requires more fuel, but its almost as bad as boost and no fuel mods.

ok brian o'connor :loser:

with 8 grand!!! personally i say screw that idea... a turbo would be much funner and sounds cool as hell, anyway i would suggest either doin an engine swap (i believe the are in the same position) to a 4g63 and redo the whole engine since you have the money to, or buying a kit from www.hahnracecraft.com they have really nice kits that add quite a bit of power... and even on the higher stages they include the internals for you engine too (up to $6500 for the best kit, and thats about 450hp), and if you want that one go with it, but the kits they have go from about 300-450hp that include the internals, but either way put that on your engine that you have right now or on the 4g63, by then if you still have some money left over you could add the nitrous kit if you wanted, but i would not go over 100 shot! especially since you have a turbo thats gunna make your car quick as shit anyways...

Ok, my advice had nothing to do with that stupid fucking movie. Its actually a good idea to leave it NT or NA, NO2 is fun, not nearly as dangerous as boost, dont get me wrong, i love turbo cars, from the sounds to the feeling you get when it spools. This guy was talking about all the money he had, and what should he do, i assumed that he wasnt going to do alot of the work himself and i dont think that $8k is enough to do an engine swap and upgrades. If he were to do what i suggested, he would have money to upgrade the brakes and suspension to keep up with all the power he would be putting to the ground, and possibly lighten the car too. $8K doesnt go very far when you have to get a motor to swap in, pay for the swap, get a FMIC, fuel management, etc and have all that installed. And even if he could afford it, then he has a car with tons of power, but stock crap suspension and brakes. That movie makes nitros look dangerous, and makes it sound like $10 grand will get you a car that runs sub 10s. Now anytime anyone says nitros people automatically screem "RICE" and "oooo, FAST AND FURIOUS" I have priced everything it would take to do the same turbo swap into my DSM and it would cost me over 10K just for parts, and that is the best i could do, not a bunch of retail prices. If you dont believe me start making a list of what you would need and look at prices and shipping, etc. But whatever, you can think what you want.

think what i want, i know what the f*ck i am talking about, 10k just for parts is BS... anyone knows that!!! hes not building a race car... read a book i mean c'mon what are you spending the other 5k on??? i put a turbo on my car, blew the piss out of the engine on purpose, then bought pretty much everything brand new to rebuild the engine and to make it withstand a lot of boost for less than 5k, and i know for a fact that no mechanic would charge 5k to do all the work on replacing everything on the engine and installing a turbo, so what i want to know is what the f*ck you are smoking to come up with those numbers cause i want some!!! this guy could make his car really quick with 8k, with that type of money he could be running low 12's high 11's if not better!!! and even doin a engine swap wouldnt cost that much...well unless your talking about making it a drag only car, then i can see putting 10k just for parts. and no i dont believe you cause i did it to my car... i wanna see the list and prices for everything you would need cause i think your full of sh*t!!!!!

Swap the 420A for an EVO I, II, or III engine. I found this in another forum for you:

"evo I, II, III - it has far superior internals than the 1G. the weight of the pistons(forged) are ultra light compared to the 1G and 2G but have a higher compression. it also has 510 injectors and a evo 16G turbo. bigger throttle body. comes with a titanium valve cover. but its also expensive."

It would be a lot cheaper to bullet proof your 420A engine, but I think and EVO swap would have a lot more potential.... Stay away from a 150 shot of nitrous though. lol

...Second thought, get a huge ass turbo and use nitrous to spool it, and then send me some numbers.

This thread is a good two years old, the guy probably never even came back. Dont revive old threads please.
