McJob = "a low paying job that requires little skill and provides little opportunity for advancement."

From The Age:

McDonald's Corp. is seeing red over its latest contribution to popular culture - a mention in a best-selling dictionary under the entry McJob.

According to Merriam-Webster Inc, publishers of America's best-selling collegiate dictionary, "McJob," is a phrase that has become popular shorthand for a dead-end, entry-level job.

The dictionary officially defines McJob as "a low paying job that requires little skill and provides little opportunity for advancement."

I understand the sentiments of McDonald's, even though the definition, in all honesty, makes complete sense. It's in a way demeaning of jobs that a lot of people who happen to work at mcdonalds have; but as the definition says, the jobs they have really dont offer too much opportunity for major advancement, and you dont exactly have to be a genius to get a job at mcdonalds.

I'm with McDonalds on this. That insulting. For it to be slang is one thing, but to be recognised in a dictionary is absolutely ridiculous.

Btw, they must've pulled this term out of their ass cuz I've never heard it used anywhere--real life (WA) or online.

and to think, they actually have a Mcdonald's college. Yes, that's right, Hamburger University is the name. My old manager went there. That stinks. You can pretty much assume that your life is doomed once you've attended. You'll be working there forever.

Fitting name really- since the people at my local McD's are the most spiritless people there are..............and obese- which must be a result from too much McD's
