Im thinking about getting a lift kit for my 01 Suburban 4X4. I want something like 6 to 8 inches. Does anyone know roughly how much this would cost? Kit and work? And if so what size tires and rims i should get afterwards. Thanx

A quality lift kit will cost you about $2300.00 installed.
Wheels and tires are plentifold, but keep in mind that when you go to bigger wheels, then your gearing will be off, meaning that the vehicle will go off the line slower, labor on hills, have lower rpm on the freeway, won't have as much towing power. Basically, it becomes a dog. Also, with bigger wheels, your speedometer will read slower than you are actually going. This can be corrected, but then the computer needs to be reprogrammed. If youo only go up 1-2 inches in tire diameter, then the changes won't be drastic, but if you go to 35in tires etc, then it might present a problem.
One solution for bigger wheels is a gear ratio change.
If your 4x4 is geared low already, like 4.10 or so, and you are not towing, then you might be fine with all but the biggest tires.
I suggest to call a professional suspension and tire center, and havethem explain your options. Beware of hard sale types, try and find a professional installer in your area that won't mess up your truck.
