I know you all have some very diffrent views on what the "best" upgrade motor is but im just currious on what is the best motor preformance, duribility, and cost wise for a 96 Integra is.
Thanks in advance.

What model is it? LS? I would have to say upgrade to a JDM ITR motor if you can find one or the H22A out of the prelude. Those two are the best bang for the buck.:)

I agree with him. If you have the money then I would get a JDM ITR motor. If your looking at spending a little less then I'd get the H22A.

I AGREE WITH THEM BOTH ON THE JDM ITR AND H22 BUT I WOULDNT LEAVE OUT THE JDM CTR EITHER THE B16B I THINK IF I REMEMBER RIGHT;)

the b16b is a great engine, but I also agree with the H22a and the Itr

if i were you i would work with what you have. The H22 is not the best for every day driving and ive herd it causes both weight and stering probs if i were you i would keep the ls and change the head (go vtec) or even beter slap on a turbo. Good luck

The integra is not adversely affected by the h22's weight as much as say a civic or crx is and you can counteract any problems with good suspension tuning. Most people say the H22 causes understeer because they heard that from someone else. But the integra is more stout than a civic and will be able to take the extra 50-100 pounds that the h22a adds. So i would still say either the H22 or jdm itr or ctr.

Yea, they are overpriced for what you get. Katman over on the honda-tech board had a friend that had one and said it was a waste when you could get an itr motor with close to the same hp and save a whole bunch of money. IMO I like spoon sports parts but I wouldn't waste my money on one of their motors when I could build one to my specs.

more in the lines of engine mods...
i was speaking with a rather knowledgeable friend of mine about what you all have told me here, and he said that with either the b16b or the JDM ITR i would not pass smog, first of all i dont know if that true and second he said i could get a american ITR and place the mods on it to make it equal/better than the JDM is this true?

It depends on what state you are in. I live in PA and I passed my jdm zc. I think that if you want to be safe get a us itr and not have to worry about smog.:)

go with the h22a swap but dont get it vtec if you plan on adding turbo.

the h22 is going to be a ***** to make it fit, new motor mounts/clearance probs/u name it. and itll cost a lot to get an actual jdm b18c5 too. for the money of doing either of those u could get an american b18c1 from and integra gsr, lot easier to find and cheaper than even an american b18c5 type r motor, then put that extra cash into it and itd be just as fast prob faster depending on the mods u do, and a hell of a lot less headache. intake/throttle body/header/exhaust and maybe even a hotter cam for the extra money if u play your cards right.

yeah but if you want power and you want it for everday driving the h22 is the way to go. Price wise there about the same,,, the h22 engine is cheaper the the b18c but youll have to buy less things for it to work right, so overall it works out to be the same.
Go for power!!

why wouldnt you want turbo in a vtec engine? if the boost kicks in while youre on a vtec boost does that cause problems?
