transporting old motor/tranny

Ok, well it seems like i've finally been convinced to go with a swap. I've found a guy not too far away from me (like 15 miles) that will help with this weekend project of taking my motor and tranny out and putting in a b16a2. The only problem is that i'm doing it at his house over x-mas break and he's addressed the fact that i need to find a way to take my d16y8 home. He said he'd hold onto it for a couple days max. But seeing how no one in my family has a truck or anything to hold it in, i'm a little stuck on how to get it home. I can't exactly pick it up and put it in my trunk. There's a shop not even a quarter mile away from my house that does swaps, and awhile ago when i looked into this i couldn't even figure out how to get it home from them either. Just wondering how you all did it.

if worst came to worst you could always rent a truck... otherwise... there has to be SOMEONE you know that you could beg/borrow/steal a truck from?

Couldn't you just tear it down and put it in your trunk? The whole thing only weighs about 300 right?

get a skateboard and put two of the wheels on the half shafts and hang on.... lol no really, I would sugjest tearing the old motor apart. pull the tranny off, the head off, and whatever else to make it lighter so you can handle it easyer. if it won't fit in your trunk take out your front passenger seat and lay it in there on the floor.

old engines are dirty though... esp when taken apart

you would have to find a really good way of protecting everything to carry a dissassembled old engine inside a car

eh my h22 fit in my trunk complete with only the tranny removed. so yea Im guessing you could fit it somewhere in the car

get a wooden pallet from a place like costco or any of those big name places, toss your motor on there, tie it down right with a rope, throw a plastic tarp in the back of your car and rap it up, done.

You're never going to fit a complete motor and trans in the back of your car......ecspecially on a wood pallet.

I say take your back seats out, laying down a tarp, and taking the motor apart and set it in your car. Its only like carrying 2 people in the back so down worry about that. And dont drive like an ass with that shit in the back of your car.
