could be a transmission issue, but I doubt it. If the clutch master cylinder is failing it will not fully disengage the clutch. Getting it in gear would be difficult because its like shifting with the clutch only half the way in.

Thanks for the reply, will be looking at it next week. Sounds very similiar to what am feeling when trying to shift--

What year is your S-10? I have the same problem occassionally on my '91. It's the 6 cylinder model, but this should be the same: there is a small reservoir when you're looking at your engine with the hood open, it is in the far right corner, mounted high. It's roughly the size of a jar of baby food. It should be filled with brake fluid. Mine has a very slow leak, but on occassion when it gets low i feel little to no pressure when depressing my clutch until about halfway down and it's difficult or sometimes impossible to get it into gear. I would check that first before you go tearing stuff apart, it only takes about 45 seconds.

96 and yes I did check that resv. Level looked fine but I added some fluid for the heck of it. Very little at that and guess what- my problem went away. Its been about two weeks now with no problem. Hmmmmm
