I am driving a 2.2L I4 Rodeo 2wd w/auto tranny and am getting worse gas milage than in my v8 1/2ton pickup. Whats the deal. The rodeo has less than 20K miles, and is never driven out of line yet I only get 240miles to the tank on the highway and way less in town....Somehas got to help me.

I do belive the horrible MPG an SUV should not be powered by the weakest 4cyl. engine on the planet but GM somehow convinced Isuzu to put their engines in the Rodeos GM is so proud of this engine they don even use it in their products
putting an auto tranny in SUV powered by hamster was a bad idea the problem is that there are not enough horses in it so it takes all it has to keep itself rooling the engine is under a constant heavy load with this tranny, and the A/C sys robs somewhere around 15-20 hp also this is why MPG is not so good

Have you done the calculations as to how many MPG you are getting? When I first got my Rodeo I got about 318 per tank, which calc'd out to be like 25 MPG. That is without running A/C.

I do not nor ever will own an SUV with a 4 cyl. engine it just does not make any kind of sense to me I have a 96 Trooper if I had to guess I would say I get about 16 MPG in it but who really cares no one buys an SUV for fuel economy thats why we have Hyundai great little cars with goog fuel economy and are fairly spacious

My V6 gets 17 city, 22-25 highway... I would say, take it to the mechanic, or at the very least, use fuel injector cleaner and an octane boost.

there is a huge difference in aerodynamics and weight between a Trooper and a Rodeo
